Lapland Weddings
-
Lapland in the winter is a natural choice for an oh-so-white wedding. But, in the frozen north, getting married isn’t just about shared promises and pledges in a fairytale landscape and ‘that’ dress. Here, weddings are about falling in love with snow-covered trees that twinkle in the starlight. It’s about saying ‘I do’ in a chapel carved from ice and it’s about honeymoons spent snuggled up by a crackling log fire.
Away from aisles and vows Lapland’s got the right mix for brides, grooms and loved-up friends and family. The cosmopolitan capital Rovaniemi has nightlife that’ll get you grooving and is the perfect base to meet the country’s most famous resident – Santa Claus. Head to Yllas and Levi and you’ll not only leave behind the bright lights of the big city, but you’ll also get a taste for old-world Lapland.
These wedding packages can be booked with hotels in Rovaniemi, Levi and Yllas, featured in the First Choice Winter Sun and Lapland brochures.
Santamus Venue
-
Love is really in the air of the Santamus log cabin. In the middle of a snow-covered pine forest, you’ll get to say ‘I do’ in front of family and friends. Afterwards, you’ll be serenaded by the romantic sounds of the Finnish Kantele or lap harp
Snow Princess Venue
-
If you’re one for tradition but also like something a different, why not make your life-long pledge in a traditional Lappish Kota or tepee. You and your hubby-to-be will swap rings in this rustic hut, which is decorated with torches, candles and has a toasty fireplace.
Snowy Alter Venue
-
If you’re after something a little different, why not tie the knot in an igloo? Under a sparkling fairy-light roof and in front of an ice altar, you’ll say the words that start married life. Your family and friends will be comfy as they watch because they’ll be sitting on ice chairs covered with reindeer pelts. Afterwards you’ll enjoy a glass of sparkling wine and a slice of wedding cake.
Yllas Romantic Wedding
-
Up the romance factor and become the new Mr & Mrs in a Lappish Shaman’s hut in the heart of a snow-covered forest. Begin your new life together in a candle-lit room in front of a log fire where you can toast your fresh start with a glass of sparkling wine and a short reindeer sleigh ride.
Crazy Reindeer Wedding
-
Walk up the aisle of a quaint chapel in the small village of Köngas. Definitely one for traditionalists, the chapel, its altar and stained glass window are lit by twinkling lanterns and candles.
Snow Village Wedding
-
Modern day Romeo and Juliet’s will love the cool Snow Village as a setting for their big day. Each year the whole village – the hotel, restaurant, bar and chapel – is built from snow and ice. And couples can take their pick between an ice chapel and wooden chapel to say ‘yes’. Plus, there’s a husky, reindeer or snowmobile ride to the village and the choice of an ice or log fire restaurant for the reception.
Winter Wonderland Wedding
-
Forget stretch limos or vintage cars. At your Winter Wonderland Wedding you’ll be driven to the shores of the Frozen Wilderness Lake in a reindeer sleigh. You’ll then exchange your vows in a fairy-light lit ice gazebo, which looks over the lake.
