La Pineda holidays don't muck about when it comes to days out. You've got the big daddy of Spanish theme parks on your doorstep, plus a cracking golf course and a waterpark.

Stretched-out sands

As Spanish seaside resorts go, La Pineda floats somewhere in the middle when it comes to size. The same can’t be said for its beach, though, which dominates the waterfront for more than a mile and a half. A sprinkling of hotels are buddied up with the golden sands, which the Blue Flag experts reckon are worthy of two separate seals of approval. When sunbathing time’s done and dusted, traditional Spanish restaurants and friendly bars take the reins.

Rides and slides

It’s easy to get your thrill fix around here, with enough coasters and flumes to leave your head spinning. The ones right under your nose are more about splashes than loop-the-loops, courtesy of the Aquopolis waterpark. Pitch-black flumes, surfing simulators and huge wave pools are a canapé-sized taste of what’s in store. Take a 10-minute drive inland, and Spain’s biggest theme park throws its name in the ring. PortAventura World’s international zones takes you from the Wild West to the Great Wall of China, with a hamper of bigger-is-better rides in between.

Golfing gold

If the family holiday credentials don’t float your boat, and you’re not interested in the sandy beaches, then you’re more than likely here for the golf. La Pineda’s nuzzled up to a huge complex of greens and fairways, where 45 holes are split into three pro-designed courses. In fact, it’s such a biggun that the town could fit into its grounds twice over.
