If you want all the perks of a city, without the crowds – Nea Moudania holidays are up your alley.

Cute and compact

Nea Moudania is perched at the top of Halkidiki’s first peninsula. It’s the region’s second city, but it’s still got that laidback village vibe. That said, you can expect all the tell-tale city signs, from coffee shops and supermarkets, to museums and an attention-seeking church. And it throws a belter of a beach into the ring, as well.

Bags of sands

The city’s shoulder is made of sand. And the beefed-up Nea Moudania Beach just doesn’t stop. It’s a long, thin porridge-coloured strip, splashed by see-through waters. There are stretches with coconut brollies and sunbeds, as well as some without-a-scratch belts. Plus, you can earn your PADI stripes at the dive centre.

Got it going on

It might be small on the city scale, but Nea Moudania’s got a nice little buzz to it. There’s a market every Wednesday, an award-winning yacht club and a pile of authentic Greek bars and restaurants. The two historic stars are the hilltop Ekklisia Panagia Korifini church and the open-air theatre, which puts on live music and drama performances with a sea view.
