White sands, electric-blue waters, skinny palms – holidays to Rockley have laid-back beach breaks down to a T.

Peaceful spot

Rockley is a quiet, laid-back patch on the island’s south coast. It’s a more residential neighbourhood than some of the other south coast spots, so you’ll get a taste of Bajan life – especially on weekends, when the locals make a beeline for Rockley Beach.

Rockley Beach

The sands here are pink-tinged and bordered by palms, and the waters are so blue they look like they’ve been Photoshopped. Behind the sands are huts that do a roaring trade in rum punches and freshly grilled fish, and there’s a boardwalk that takes you along the coast to the neighbouring resort of Hastings – spot on for a sunset stroll.

Plenty on offer

The main coastal road runs through Rockley and is lined with souvenir shops and restaurants. There’s also a little shopping plaza – Quayside – which is packed with clothes boutiques, craft shops and restaurants that dish up everything from pizza to Mexican fajitas.

Famous neighbours

Although Rockley’s a pretty quiet place, you don’t have to venture far to find a bit of action. The bars and clubs along St Lawrence Gap are 5 minutes’ drive away, while Bridgetown – Barbados’ capital – takes 10 minutes to reach.
