Santa Susanna holidays work a treat for tourists seeking sun, sand and some sleep. It's got a massive beach, a sprinkling of tapas bars and a forest for a back garden.

Sleepy Susanna

Santa Susanna lives up to the Costa Brava’s restful rep. Its doorstep is made up of a huge, biscuit-coloured beach. The filling’s a little old town with cobbled streets and everyday shops for the locals. When you want an energy hit, lively Lloret de Mar’s just up the coast, or you can get to Barcelona in an hour.

Super-sized shoreline

The town’s beach clocks up a lot of mileage. It unravels for going-on 30 kilometres in total. Go for a seaside stroll and you can end up in Malgrat de Mar or Pineda de Mar in next to no time. It’s got the right kind of sand for sunbathing, plus there’s a floating obstacle course in the water.

Old-style

In general, this place is a traditional find in Catalonia. So legit sangria and decent tapas are easy to come by. But it’s also the type of place you can grab a burger or pizza by the beach. It’s family-friendly, too, thanks to an adventure park, where you can rent out quad bikes and go zip-lining.
