St Lawrence holidays serve up the best nights out in Barbados. Plus, you've got shell-white sandy spots and rum tasting trips to keep you busy during the day.

Bajan beaches

St Lawrence sits on Barbados’ south coast, and its Caribbean credentials are top-drawer. Dover Beach is a slab of ice-white sand, complete with watersports huts and snack-selling beach shacks. And, at St Lawrence Bay, you can pop on your snorkelling mask and explore the close-to-shore reef. The bright-blue water’s freckled with the rainbow tones of tropical fish.

Day to night

Bustling St Lawrence Gap is this town’s most famous spot. It’s definitely a crowd pleaser – by day, shopaholics are sorted at the Chattel House Shopping Village. Later on, as the sun goes down, the bars and clubs throw open their doors. Lots of them play live music, and happy hour’s up for grabs in plenty of joints, too.

Daytrip destinations

In St Lawrence, there’s a variety pack of daytrips to choose from. Get historical with an outing to the Sunbury Plantation House – here you can learn about Barbados’ sugar-sprinkled past. Or, see how rum’s made, and have a taste, at the Mount Gay Distillery. If you’re not interested in the ins and outs, you can still pick up a tot of this tipple in lots of local bars and rum shops. Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados, is 20 minutes’ drive away, too. Alongside a bevy of UNESCO-stamped attractions, you’ll find a lively nightlife scene.
