WHEN TO GO
Summer in Spain ranges from hot to sizzling. Temperatures on the mainland during July and August regularly hit 30°C, and in the Balearics, you can expect around 11 hours of sunshine a day. Spring and autumn are warm, too, with temperatures in the mid-20s. Down in the Canaries, the mercury sits comfortably in the high 20s. If it’s winter sun you’re after, this is the place – the mercury tends to stick at around 20°C. And on the mainland, winter temperatures on the Costa del Sol and Costa de la Luz can reach the high teens and low 20s, too. Bear in mind that you might see a bit of rain, though.

Passports and Visas

Health & Safety
You should take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance to cover you while you’re away. It’s also a good idea to get a European Health Insurance Card – or EHIC – before leaving the UK. Though it’s not a substitute for travel insurance, it entitles you to emergency medical treatment on the same terms as Spanish nationals. It won’t, however, cover you for medical repatriation, ongoing medical treatment or non-urgent treatment. For the latest health and safety info, visit www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain/health
