Holidays to Albir showcase Benidorm's relaxed next-door neighbour – a family-friendly town with an award-winning beach.

Laid-back Albir

Amble north-west of Benidorm and you’ll soon bump into Albir. Families make a beeline for this laid-back beach town, for its half-kilometre of bright gold sand and pebbles. There’s also a generous dollop of daytrips on the doorstep – from Europe’s biggest theme park, to Valenica and the jagged Serra Gelada Natural Park.

Blue Flag beach

The resident beach, Playa de Racó de l’Albir, has Costa Blanca written all over it. This wide belt of white-gold sand swoops out for over half a kilometre. Playgrounds, lifeguard stations and a pristine promenade accessorise it, scoring it a coveted Blue Flag award. Wide, leafy boulevards shoot up from the beach, doling out shady bars and kid-friendly restaurants as they go.

Serra Gelada Natural Park and Albir Golf

Serra Gelada National Park deals out some of the best views on the Costa Blanca. If you don’t mind a bit of a climb, make tracks for the clifftop lighthouse. Albir, Altea and Benidorm are splayed out below, while the Mediterranean Sea sweeps out in front. Other activities in Albia include the picture-perfect Albir Golf, which dishes up putting greens and bunkers, plus pancake-flat pitches for cricket and football games.

Neighbouring Benidorm

Benidorm is only a 20-minute bus ride away from Albir. It’s the big-hitter of the Costa Blanca for a reason – expect lively beaches, non-stop shows and a photogenic old town. Lively Levante Beach is the place for big groups, while Poniente Beach dials things down a notch. Buses from Albir to Benidorm run until mid-evening, so you might even get the chance to crowbar in a cabaret show or two.
