With a waterfront setting, traditional charm and fresh seafood, Ferragudo holidays promise relaxation and plenty of beach time.

A hidden delight

The fishing village of Ferragudo's one of the Algarve's most authentic spots. Nestled by the mouth of the River Arade on Portugal's southern coast, life here still revolves around the sea. It's hard to resist falling for the old-world cottages, intimate restaurants and pretty waterfront promenade. There's a pair of beaches, too.

Scenic Silves

It's not far to go to get a fill of history with Silves just a 25-minute drive away. Wander the towering Moorish Castle of Silves, explore the gardens and take in the views of the surrounding landscape. To admire more of the scenery, go for a leisurely stroll along the River Arade.

Fun on the coast

Ferragudo's all about coastal relaxation, with golden beaches all within a hop-skip from each other. Some of the best include Praia do Pintadinho – a 15-minute walk from town – and Praia Grande. The latter's dotted with sunloungers for those perfect lazy days, and it's just a little farther than Praia da Angrinha.
