Holidays in Pomos give you the chance to blend a remote location with a big hit of Cypriot festival culture.

Off the beaten track

Pomos is straddled by a beach and a sleepy harbour on the northern stretch of Chrysochou Bay, a shimmering spot on in the Paphos Region on Cyprus' north-west coast. Expect deckchairs and whitewashed buildings – your only job here's to stroll and snooze.

Secret sands

Pomos' shingle beach is nice and quiet, with a backdrop of fruit trees. Paradise Beach is even more off the map – you'll have to park a ways back and climb down steep steps to the shore. The water's crystal clear, and you're more likely to share it with turtles than other sightseers.

Silky sweet tunes

Pomos' annual jazz festival takes place in August, right in the middle of the village. Grab a glass of wine and some nibbles, then settle in to sway to the beat. You'll be toe-tapping to the rollicking riffs all evening.

Amazing nature indoors

The Museum of Natural History has the rep of being the best in Cyprus, and the exhibits are certainly life-like. If it's raining outside or you're pressed for time, this is a great intro to the island nation's birds and flowers that can be packed into a half-hour visit.
