If Puerto Calero holidays were a food, they'd be caviar – luxurious, a bit of treat, and something you really want to try at least once in your lifetime.

Luxury in Lanzarote’s south-west

Puerto Calero was built in the Eighties to gift holidaymakers with a dose of luxury on the island of Lanzarote. Today, it’s got quite an elite feel due to its sprawling golf course, a swanky marina and lots of hotels. You’ll find the area’s best beaches at Puerto del Carmen, the resort next door.

Puerto Calero marina

This place is all about adventures at sea. It’s got a glossy marina – nicknamed Millionaire’s Harbour – at its heart. It sparkles with sleek yachts which you can gawk at from a seat in one of the marina’s elegant restaurants. And if looking’s not enough, jump aboard a catamaran trip, go paragliding or swoosh out across the open ocean in a canoe.

Canary Island markets

Tourists have a lot of love for Puerto Calero’s market. It’s on every Tuesday and Friday morning around the marina. You can pick up spangled jewellery, hand-painted crafts and plates of fresh seafood. There’s another street market held on Fridays around the Plaza Varadero in the nearby resort of Puerto del Carmen.
