Drink in the charm of family-run tavernas, nearby beaches and a timeless Greek old town on holidays to Skopelos Town.

Charming inside and out

With quaint tavernas and whitewashed houses, Skopelos' capital is easy to love. Located in Greece's North Aegean islands, the old town – a traffic-free warren of cobbled alleyways and slate-domed churches – will have you swooning. Seal your affection with a traditional cheese pie as you gaze over the ruins of the Venetian castle.

Hit the beach

While Skopelos Town has a beach of its own, you can also make like a local and head to nearby Stafilos – it's more scenic and relaxed, and only a five-minute drive away. Arcing Panormos is a 15-minute drive away, and some say it's the island’s best-looking beach.

Daytripper

Dolphin and seal-watching tours depart from Skopelos harbour each day. The snap-worthy village of Glossa's well worth a visit, too – you can reach it in 40 minutes by car. It's close to Loutraki's fifth-century Temple of Athena, as well as the pretty hilltop chapel, which featured in the film Mamma Mia!.
