Acoteias holidays are a delicious mix of fresh seafood, traditional tavernas and pristine beaches on a golden stretch of coastline.

A relaxing retreat

An idyllic Algarve village, Açoteias is a real Portuguese escape from modern life. Tucked away from hectic Albufeira, this pretty place has held onto its authenticity. Expect cosy restaurants, laidback bars and old-world buildings as you wander the streets. Freshly caught fish comes as standard here, so prepare to eat like a royal.

Historic Faro

Waterfront Faro is an easy 30-minute drive away, making it ideal daytrip material. Wander the cobbled streets of the old town, stopping to admire the 18th-century buildings and historic cathedral. Don't miss the eerie Bone Chapel, or Capela dos Ossos, which is filled with thousands of human bones.

Shimmering seaside

If you're in the mood for snapping pretty beach photos, you're in luck. Just a 10-minute stroll from the village, you'll find Praia da Falesia in all of its pristine glory. Copper-coloured cliffs tower over the golden sand of this Blue Flag award-winning beach. Meanwhile, sparkling waters lap the six-kilometre shore.

Getting active

Açoteias is relaxed, but that doesn't mean you can't get sporty. Golf is a big deal here, and Pine Cliffs is the village's nine-hole course. Overlooking the beach, it's a special place to play. Walkers have plenty of options for seaside strolling, while some resorts offer tennis courts.
