Home to one of the Algarve's biggest beaches, Armacao de Pera holidays offer seaside fun, authentic restaurants and laidback nightlife.

Old meets new

A sprawling resort town in the middle of Portugal's southern Algarve coast, Armacao de Pera's full of life, promising long beach days and late-night cocktails. High-rise apartments dot the skyline, so head to the old town if you're after historic buildings and a more traditional atmosphere.

Sights in Silves

History buffs have plenty to look forward to visiting Armacao de Pera. It's only a 20-minute drive away and once there you can wander around its huge half-a-millenia-old fortress before stopping off at the towering cathedral. Or, skip the landmarks and head straight to a fragrant fruit farm on the edge of the village.

A standout beach

With an airport runway-sized stretch of powdery sand and warm waters, there's enough space for play, party and relaxation on Praia Grande. As one of the Algarve's most impressive beaches, it's a real showstopper. If the main beach is too busy for you, make your way towards the traditional fishing boats and on to Praia da Gale.

Back in time

Armacao de Pera's Middle Ages-era quarter is a part of town where you'll find a historic fort, winding streets and old-world buildings. Stroll down to Pescadores Beach, where locals still return with their daily catch. For spectacular views, explore the headland of Nossa Senhora da Rocha.
