Bain Boeuf holidays land you on Mauritius’ northern tip. It serves up the perfect holiday duo – it’s got a sugar-white beach and sunshine on tap.

Laidback living

Bain Boeuf is so laidback its almost horizontal – this place is all about a chilled-out beach scene. It’s pitched on Mauritius’ northern tip, where the sunshine shows its face more than anywhere else on the island. Low-key living is the order of the day, but the action isn’t too far away – it’s a short hop in a taxi to lively Grand Baie. Plus, the island’s capital is just along the coast, too.

Grand Baie in a day

It’s less than 10 minutes by car to Grand Baie from Bain Boeuf, which puts a party hotspot and a lively beach in touching distance. The beaches here are Mauritian staples – the waters are clear, calm and penned in by lashings of perfect-white sand. Once the sun sets, head down to Royal Road – it’s got a string of bars and clubs which help crown this place as the island’s nightlife capital.

Coast-side capital

Take a drive east from Bain Boeuf and you’ll find yourself in the island’s waterside capital, Port Louis. Things look a little different around here – skyscrapers tower over the bay and there’s a marina filled with yachts that wouldn’t look out of place in a James Bond movie. Plus, you’ve got a hilltop 16th-century fort which offers up first-class views of the city. And, it’s home to a duo of museums, too – one of them shines the spotlight on 17th-century maritime trading. The other plays host to exhibitions from action-packed sea rescues.
