Italian holidays to Gallipoli whisk you away to a crescent-shaped beach backed by an old town full of shops and restaurants.

Seafood and eat it

In Gallipoli – a historic town in southern Italy – seafood goes from net to plate in no time at all. Grilled red prawns and stewed octopus are favourites, but if it's pizza or pasta you're craving, there are plenty of options for those, too.

Ye old town

The old town's accessible via the Corso Roma road and has an incredible line-up of historic architecture. The centuries-old Castle Angioini and the Santa Agata Cathedral dominate the scene, and winding streets are dotted with cosy cafés, craft shops and restaurants.

Get beachy

There's a half-moon beach cupping the old town, so you won't have to go far to sunbathe. If you really want to stretch out, head over to Puglia's Spiaggia della Purita. Here, you'll find a four-mile stretch of soft sand, peaceful clear water and a sprinkling of beach bars.
