Restful rural vibes and sparkling waters encircled by a picturesque Greek bay – holidays to Kanapitsa are as peaceful as can be.

Beach life

Hugging the headland in southern Skiathos – a Greek island in the north Aegean Sea – Kanapitsa's Blue Flag award-winning beach stretches for a mile in a narrow semi-circle. The village is sheltered by pine-clad hills, which lend a tranquil feel. Livelier Skiathos Town's just a 20-minute water taxi ride away, too.

Rock and stroll

The edges of Kanapitsa Beach are great snorkelling spots, and home to a few rock pools. Just make sure you bring your sea shoes – tiny, spiny sea urchins love to hang out here.

Tempting treats

Be sure to sample a typical Skiathos meze – or sharing platter – of artichoke hearts, fried courgettes and fresh calamari during your stay. And save room for brandy and 'baklava' – that's a filo pastry smothered in honey and sprinkled with pine nuts.
