Thassos Town holidays offer an authentic Greek getaway, with historic ruins, sandy shores and a lively nightlife scene.

Island life

Sitting in a north-east pocket of the Aegean Sea, the Greek island of Thassos is a world of white sandy beaches and deep-blue ocean vistas. Thassos Town knows how to throw a party but is still packed with authentic charm – from its quiet tavernas to its late-night ouzerias – Greek bars selling the country's favourite anise-flavoured drink.

Sandy shores

Thassos Town may be on one of Greece's greenest islands, but there are still plenty of golden sands to discover. Two Blue Flag award-winning beaches are close by, including Palio Limani – a tree-fringed number with a handful of welcoming bars and restaurants, only a few minutes' walk from town.

History buffs rejoice

There are impressive ancient ruins right on the doorstep of Thassos Town, including a Roman amphitheatre with views across the sea. And across on the mainland, you'll find the well-preserved castle and aqueduct of Kavala. It's a 90-minute commute, but well worth the trip.

After-hours fun

Night owls will find their perch of choice here. Most seafront watering holes stay open past midnight, and a small handful of clubs can keep you dancing 'til dawn. For a more laidback approach, while away the evening listening to traditional bouzouki music – that's a Mediterranean long-necked lute.
