Holidays to Drosia take you to an off-the-beaten-track part of north-east Zante, where peace and quiet’s firmly on the agenda.

Off the beaten track

Drosia is the name given to the coastal part of the small village of Kipseli, on the Greek island of Zante. It occupies a peaceful patch along the north-eastern shoreline, away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist hubs. If you’re looking for a place with a real away-from-it-all feel, you’ll find it here – the area’s home to little more than a few hotels, a supermarket and a couple of seafront tavernas. Aside from the sea, the scenery here comes in the form of olive-green countryside dotted with orange trees.

Crystal-clear water

The shoreline here’s made up of small, rocky bays, and it’s quiet enough that you might get one all to yourself. What Drosia lacks in sand, it makes up for in crystal-clear water – the shallow sea here makes paddling hard to resist. The water’s calm, too, so it’s a safe spot for families. And if you do fancy a beach day, the nearest big stretch of sand’s only 15 minutes’ drive away in Alykes.

A base for exploring

Drosia’s position in the centre of Zante makes it a great base for exploring the island, from the sleepy villages in the north to the bustling towns in the south. Zante Town’s only a 20-minute drive away – the winding cobbled streets here are sprinkled with shops and eateries. A further 10 minutes gets you to Laganas, which is famous for its vibrant nightlife. And boat trips from nearby Alykes take you to the Blue Caves and Shipwreck Beach in the north, or Turtle Island in the south.
