The tempo is switched to slow on holidays to Golf del Sur. This small seafront resort lines up a pair of golf courses, a couple of restaurant-lined squares, and easy access to nearby towns.
Quiet seaside resort
The little resort of Golf del Sur sits on the coast. As the name suggests, it’s most famous for golf – the 27-hole course here comes with volcanic-sand bunkers and giant cacti plants. It’s a fairly quiet spot, with a handful of bars and restaurants, a shopping centre, and a small rocky beach backed by dark, dramatic cliffs.
Sands and seafood
History comes courtesy of San Blas Nature Reserve, on the edge of town. It’s set around the site of ancient caves, and guided tours include multi-media exhibitions and recreations of life when the first Spanish settlers arrived on Tenerife. A 20-minute walk along the seafront will bring you to neighbouring Los Abrigos, where you’ll find a black-sand beach and a cluster of seafood restaurants.
