If pretty harbours, glittering sea views and broad sandy beaches float your boat, then holidays to Limenaria were made for you.

The full package

This relaxed former fishing village on the south-west coast of Thassos of Greece's North Aegean islands really does have it all. The list of perks is endless – quaint harbourside restaurants, authentic Greek shops, museums and a choice of bars that serve up the local tipple, tsipouro. Legend-steeped Mount Athos stands tall and proud on the horizon, too.

Get your beach on

With its café-lined strip of sandy shoreline, Limenaria Beach – just a five-minute walk from the town centre – is a hit with windsurfers and water skiers. If you just want to chill, grab a sunlounger, umbrella and a cold beer at Metalleia Beach – a five-minute drive east. It's a great shout for families, too, thanks to shallow, clear waters.

Around town

The island capital, Thassos Town, is a 45-minute drive from Limenaria and packed with trendy restaurants and bars. It's the town's history that really captivates though. Along with a Greek acropolis and an ancient marketplace, there’s a beautifully preserved amphitheatre boasting views over the town. You’ll find fascinating relics in the archaeological museum, too.
