View All DealsGraced with lush tropical forests and more wildlife than people, holidays to Silhouette Island are a journey to paradise.
Silhouette – the Seychelles' third-largest island – is home to only 200 people, so there's plenty of room for you to find a quiet stretch of sand. And that seclusion isn't an illusion – reaching this Indian Ocean paradise requires a 45-minute boat ride or 15-minute helicopter trip from Mahe, the archipelago's main island.
Over 90% of the island is official national parkland, and a one-mile-wide marine strip protects the waters. Dive or snorkel offshore and you'll enter a vibrant underwater world inhabited by hawksbill turtles and graceful rays. Inland doesn't disappoint either, with geckos, fruit bats and camouflaged chameleons all hiding in the leaves.
Walking trails criss-cross the island, and even cut right through the canopied interior to the white sands of Grand Barbe – it's a three-hour walk, but worth it. For an easier-going jungle jaunt, try the two-hour hike to Anse Mondon, where palm trees and turquoise waves await.
