A day in Bellagio

Morning
Take a tour around the beautiful botanical gardens of the Villa Serbelloni. Built in the 15th century, the villa was passed down to the Serbelloni dukes in the 18th century, who extended its grounds. Now a 5-star hotel, it has 18km of paths and trails, with thousands of plants and flowers that slope down to the lake.

Lunch
Potter down to the Via Roma and share a pizza on the harbour, which looks out along the Como arm of the lake.

Afternoon
Dip into some of the artisan shops that line the Via Garibaldi – they sell a wonderful range of luxurious handmade items like shoes, silks and glass souvenirs. Make sure you check out the toy shop too – the wooden yacht models are extraordinary.

Evening
Stroll down to the quay and bask in the atmospheric sounds of the local musicians performing outside the restaurants, or catch a show at the open-air amphitheatre.
