A day in Mennagio

Morning
If you aren’t too relaxed to face a lot of steps, head for the oldest part of the town. Get to Via Castellino da Castello and see the enormous perimeter walls that once bordered the now largely demolished ancient castle.

Lunch
For a refreshing pit stop make your way to La Fabrica del Gelato, in the main square Piazza Garibaldi, for a couple of scoops. The lemon gelato is particularly tempting.

Afternoon
Follow the narrow Via Strecioum to get to one of the most picturesque bridges over the Senagra stream, and look for the bas-relief by Vannuccini. Continue along the footpath and you will reach the hamlet of Loveno di Menaggio. Loveno is known mainly for being home of the beautiful Villa Mylius Vigoni, definitely a must-see in Menaggio.

Evening
The perfect evening in Menaggio consists of a stroll down the waterfront as the day turns to dusk. Watch the boats come in off the lake and settle down for sunset drinks at the Caffe Varenna.
