Visit a memorial to fallen Cuban soldiers

You’ll find the Memorial to the Cuban International Martyrs near Maurice Bishop International Airport, less than a five-minute drive from Point Salines’ centre. It was built in 2017 to honour 24 Cuban fighters who died defending the island during the American Invasion of Grenada in 1983. Each fallen soldier’s commemorated with a plinth that shows their portrait. There’s also a bigger sculpture in the middle of the memorial which has a tribute quote from Fidel Castro, Cuba’s leader for 49 years.
