HOLIDAYS
List
  • Next week’s release of ‘Pan’ marks a new adventure for the boy who never grew up – reminding us that it’s such a drag to be a grown-up sometimes. We’ve found some little pieces of Neverland where channelling your inner child is basically the law (and there isn’t a Captain Hook in sight)…

    Join the lost boys…

The lost boys live for adventure, so of course they’d choose swinging through the trees Tarzan-style over a simple stroll through their forest home. On our zip-lining tour in Costa Rica, you’ll glide over the rainforest treetops, getting a bird’s eye view of the vast jungle canopy, and spotting toucans, hummingbirds and blue-winged butterflies on your way. It’s definitely the daredevil’s way of getting around.

Watch the pirates fight it out…

Magaluf’s infamous pirate show has been around for 30 years and is still going strong. Staged in its own custom-built theatre, the part-panto, part-musical features fire-eaters, dancers and daring stunts to keep you entertained. Or, if you’d rather get involved in the swashbuckling action, our Pirates Of Ibiza excursion is a full fun-packed day of sailing the seas, exploring secret coves and uncovering mysterious legends. Similarly, little ones will love Zante’s Playaway Pirates day, where they’ll learn to walk and talk like a pirate before teaming up with Captain Smelly Belly to search for buried treasure.

    Live like a mermaid…

Life in Mermaid Lagoon is pretty sweet – sunbathing on the rocks, combing their hair with forks and hanging out with all the colourful fish. We can’t transform your legs into flippers, but we can offer a little taste of a mermaid’s day-to-day activities. In Cancun, you can swim with some enormous whale sharks as they skim the sea searching for plankton, getting up close and personal with the harmless beasts. Or, if you want to get pally with some playful dolphins, you can meet them in Portugal, Jamaica or Turkey. Be sure to stay in Turkey’s Club Mermaid Village where there’s enough pools, slides and a private beach area to please water babies.

Meet the crocodile who bit off Hook’s hand…

The aptly-named Crocodile Park in Spain’s Benalmadena is home to no less than 300 gigantic reptiles. The largest of all is ‘Big Daddy’ who measures a huge 4 metres in length. On your visit, you’ll learn the fascinating life cycle of the crocodile from birth to adulthood, and you might even get the chance to hold a baby (while it’s still sweet and innocent). Listen out for the sound of a ticking clock if you want to come face-to-face with Hook’s nemesis.

Fly to Neverland with Peter Pan…

Besides Michael Jackson’s ranch, the home of never growing up is, of course, Walt Disney World, where everyone’s invited to act like a big kid. Peter Pan’s Flight is one of the few remaining original attractions and still takes pride of place in Fantasyland, boasting some of the longest queues. On the ride, you’ll board a miniature galleon and join Peter as he follows the 2nd star to the right straight for Neverland. Don’t forget to spot Big Ben and Tower Bridge as you glide over a miniature starlit London.

Look down from the Neverpeak Mountains…

Standing right in the middle of Neverland, the Neverpeak mountains are where you can see over everyone and everything – even if you’re a small child. We agree that the best way to see any destination is by getting an aerial view from up high, which is why we offer excursions to the top of the highest peaks. In Cape Verde, you can trek up the mountains of Sao Nicolau, which is the island’s highest spot and home to its tropical plantations. Jamaica’s famous Blue Mountains are 5,600 feet above sea level, and we offer a downward bicycle tour through the lush scenery. Or, if you’re feeling brave, you can hike to the top of Mount Vesuvius in Italy, to get a breath-taking view of Pompeii.
