Selina Akhtar is a senior lifestyle copywriter for First Choice. She’s holiday-obsessed and took this to the extreme with a nine-month backpacking trip around South East Asia, Australasia and America. Her favourite travel experiences so far include riding a bobsled down a mountain in Jamaica, bottle feeding a baby kangaroo in Australia, and going on an epic road trip through 30 US states.
Dislikes: Queuing, onions, getting up early.
First holiday memory: Travelling to France on the ferry aged four. I genuinely thought we’d see the Little Mermaid swimming around in the English Channel en route.
Top travel tip: Pre-plan your outfits – sounds boring, but it’ll save you over packing and dragging a heavy case around.
Where to next: Costa Rica, to do an Attenborough-style trek through the jungle (hopefully).
Favourite holiday destination: Vietnam. Going on a boat trip through Halong Bay was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever done. Plus, it’s not far from Thailand and Cambodia, so you can do a two or three-in-one trip.
