Hands up – who needs a holiday right now? We want to get you out the office and on the plane pronto, so here’s how to bag our very best late deals. You know, the ones that are so good we don’t really want to share them. First of all, get inspired by our round-up of destinations below. Then, check out our last-minute deals page, where you’ll find all our deals…
Lively Larnaca has an every-hour-is-happy-hour attitude, and gives Ibiza a real run for its money when it comes to nightlife. Dance from dusk to dawn in Aiya Napa, guzzle cocktails on Nissi Beach, or let your hair down with a boat party. Not your scene? Try peaceful Paphos instead. Channel your inner goddess with a swim around Aphrodite’s Rock, or strut around the Tombs of the Kings and feel like royalty.
Pick a Greece deal and you’ll spend summer on one of the most gorgeous islands in the Med. Sunbathe on Kefalonia’s stunning beaches, dance your way around Zante’s party hotspots or try Samos for a slice of authentic local life. Whichever you choose, you can look forward to a mezze of whitewashed buildings, blue-domed churches and sleepy fishing villages. The chance to top up your tan with temps that hardly leave the late 20s will make any deal feel hotter, too.
Want to grab a Balearic cocktail at a happy hour price? Just throw in a measure of golden beaches, stir it with Spanish culture, and top it off with a nightlife that rivals the rest of Europe. You’ll find this cluster of islands just off mainland Spain – standing out for their beaches and camera-ready scenery. Each island has a personality of its own, too. We love Ibiza for its hippie markets, Majorca for its buzzing capital, Palma, and Menorca for its pretty harbours. Don’t forget Formentera, either. The hidden gem is Ibiza’s quieter sister, and its beaches couldn’t be more laid back.
Forget spring break. Summer in Mexico is like no other. Bagsy a deal to the Caribbean coast and see why it’s known for majoring in beaches, or check out the old-world charm in Puerto Vallarta, on the Pacific side. The latter’s studded with fishing villages that’ll have you falling hook, line and sinker in no time. After something more lively? Away from the beaches, trekking and zip-line challenges are in easy reach.
Some might say we’ve saved the best ‘til last. We say you’ll have to grab a deal there and decide for yourself. Few know that the Canary Islands are actually the tips of an ancient volcanic mountain range. It’s no wonder, then, that you’ll find a mix of tropical forests, moon-like lava deserts and mountain-high sand dunes – particularly in Lanzarote. If you think bigger is better, head to Tenerife, the largest of the crew, and pick upbeat beach resorts like Playa del Ingles. At the other end of the scale, you’ve got La Palma – an old-school Canary Island. Explore this tiny, off-the-radar spot and you’ll stumble across volcanic peaks, quiet coves and sleepy cobbled streets.
