Costa del Sol – Riu Costa del Sol

Stroll through the gardens at this place in Spain’s sunny Costa del Sol, and you’ll find Torremolinos Beach. This spot is made up of six sandy stretches, linked together by a promenade. The whole lot measures a whopping seven kilometres – so you’re sure to find a patch that suits you. Beach bars, seafood restaurants, and plenty of family-friendly activities are sprinkled along the prom, too.

Back at the hotel, take in sea views while you swim in the Med-facing main pool, or get competitive on the sand-blanketed volleyball court.

    Jamaica – Riu Reggae

You’ll find this fancy spot in Jamaica’s holiday hotspot, Montego Bay – it sits right next to a sizeable slab of palm-speckled sand and the Caribbean coast. There are plenty of loungers on offer, so you’re all set to kick back and relax. A trio of infinity pools rub shoulders with the sand, and you can sip a tipple in two of them at a swim-up bar.

And, in one of the pools, you can join in with an introductory scuba diving lesson. Or, if diving takes your fancy, carry on your training on the at the hotel’s PADI scuba diving school on the beach. That’s not the only watersport you can get involved with, though. Snorkelling, windsurfing, and kayaking are all on the cards here, too.

    Gran Canaria – Riviera Marina

The Canary Islands are famous for their year-round sunny climes, and you can make the most of the rays at this Gran Canaria hotel. It’s tucked up in between a cliff and Playa del Cura Beach, so the views are pretty special.

The beach is a volcanic number, but instead of the typical black sand, you’ll be treated to golden shades. It’s nice and quiet – you won’t find any public beach bars here, but you’re just steps from your hotel so you won’t go thirsty either. Nab yourself a lounger on the sand, or choose one by the hotel’s pool, and you’ll still have views of the beach.

    Croatia – Epidaurus Hotel

This hotel has a classically Croatian setting backed by rolling hills and with a pebbly beach right in front of it. As well as relaxing on a sunbed, keep busy on the beach with watersports like scuba diving, water-skiing, and banana boat riding.

Or, if it’s sand you’re after, this place is in a prime location for getting to Croatia’s famous Brijuni National Park, made up of 14 islands. You’ll find tonnes of beaches in this archipelago, as well as lots of Instagram-worthy natural sights.

    Mauritius – Zilwa Attitude

This picture-perfect spot’s ideal for sand-seekers. For starters, it’s set along four top-quality sandy beaches in tropical Mauritius. We’re talking ice-white sand, warm waters, and comfy sunbeds. What’s more, you can get involved with plenty of beach-based activities. Everything from volleyball and pedal boating, to windsurfing and snorkelling, is on offer.

Plus, you won’t have to set foot off the sand to get yourself a bite to eat or something to drink. There’s a beach bar set in a boat, and the Lor Disab Restaurant – its name translates to ‘right on the beach’ – you can probably guess why. The jewel in this place’s crown, though, is its pair of private islands – can you get beachier than that? One of them features its own lunchtime barbecue spot, and kids can join in with treasure hunts on the other.

Mexico – Azul Beach Resort Riviera Maya, by Karisma

Luxury’s the name of the game at this beachy spot. It’s snapped up a sand-edged spot on Mexico’s Riviera Maya. Days on the sand come with beach butlers – this helpful bunch will bring food and drink to your lounger, as well as towels, sun cream, and magazines. They’ll even cool you down with a spritz of facial spray. To go ultra VIP, opt for a day in one of the fancy four-poster daybeds which line the beach.

You don’t have to leave the beach to get pampered, either. Book yourself a sea-view sky massage and you’ll be pampered in an over-water cabana. Or, turn up the tempo in the beachfront bar, and listen to a soundtrack of live music.
