Cerro Mar Colina

The Cerro Mar Colina offers a choice of pools and a great line-up of activities, all topped off with sweeping views of Albufeira.

From its hillside position, this place comes with spectacular views over the Atlantic Ocean and Albufeira’s terracotta-topped old town. You can walk to the sandy shoreline in a 5 minutes.

Interiors are lovely and bright, with whitewashed walls and plenty of sunlight that streams in through floor-to-ceiling windows. Apartments carry the white motif, too, and they’re finished with simple furniture and sun-trap balconies.

Hot break!

Our first time in Portugal and we loved it. Very hot. Couple of days 34 in Faro, about 32 near us. Had an upgrade in our apartment. Was spacious and well fitted kitchen. Had air con and we needed it. Were on 3rd floor with magnificent view to the sea and a decent sized balcony. Restaurant food was great with local dishes available. I like to be able to eat 'from the culture'. Breakfast was the same every morning, but enough selection to find different combinations each day, and the fresh oranges, peeled and sliced ready to eat were great. For those who wish to self cater Aldi and Lidl about 10 mins walk away. Staff were friendly and helpful, we had done our own bookings which meant on the first night we arrived after the restaurant had closed, however, they opened and cooked a meal just for us. How's that for service! Probably wouldn't return to this hotel due to its location. We are middle/ late sixties and reasonably mobile. We went down 'cardiac hill' several times and up it once. We discovered with a slightly longer walk round by the bus station (about 20 mins)it was possible to avoid the steps completely come round the dual carriageway to near Lidl, then drop down to the hotel. Much easier, and would be easier for those with pushchairs etc. The final time we caught a taxi back as it was soooo hot. Cost 5 euros with tip. Well worthwhile. The other 'problem '.the bin men seem to do their round at midnight, and they are not quiet! Went in the hotel pool several times( there were several pools but we had one just below our apartment ). Lovely swim, bit chilly to first get in and then ok. Stayed in quite a while and did some lengths. Loved the old town and market square, so much character. Beach nice too, although sea rough. Parasols and sun beds 15€ for two for the day! thought a bit expensive. Went out on a historic Algarve coach trip, bit long, but interesting. Also took the open top bus to the wetlands to look at the wildlife. Lovely trip, saw some distant flamingoes.More

Loved The Cerro Mar

This was our first time in Portugal and using Thompson's, it was great everything was covered door to door service. The apartments are well equipped with everything you need for self catering. Washing machine and dish washer, take your own wash tablets as they only sell large quantities in the little shop, I packed enough for our stay. We didn't get to stay around the pool we were in the back of the Cerro Mar overlooking a bit of scrub land we could see the sea though, we didn't mind because it was nice and quiet without anyone over looking us on our balcony and we had the sun from midday which was roasting. Everyone in the Main hotel reception where very helpful, the whole complex is amazing you can use all of it, both sides of the road it's all lovely it's a huge area. The only down side only if you have walking difficulties is the steps to the the square.. There are 110 of them, going down is fine but coming back is not for the faint hearted. There is a shuttle bus running regularly during the day which is great. I would definitely go back there everything is catered for I don't think you would find better, housekeeping comes in every day I didn't make my bed once in the 2 weeks we were there..More

excellent apartments

Lovely clean apartments good size rooms. Would recommend. Good view and decent size balcony Enjoyed being near the old town which was great for eating out and sitting having a drink in the evening . Good to have choice of pools and no problems getting sun beds despite hotel/apartments being busy. Reception staff polite and helpful Enjoyed the organised barbeque held on the roof terrace Plenty of food choices and like the food unlimited wine or juices. The food was mediocre at the restaurant found nicer places at the old town including O Davids just up a side street off the main square and Liberty's for drinks, food was not good there. Weather was raining most of the time unfortunatelyMore

My Stay at Cerro Mar

I wasn't impressed with my greeting at the hotel. My daughter and her small young boys were put in a separate building to me and my husband even though we had booked together. I just wasn't impressed with the receptionists attitude as I was made to feel I had three heads at requesting we were put in the same building, I was told to come back tomorrow as there was nothing he could do, even though it was there mistake as it was clear they had messed the rooms up. Despite this we had a great time. The hotel is beautiful, the restaurant staff were wonderful. I was a little worried I hadn't read any reviews on the quality of the food, I didn't need to have worried because the food was lovely and great choice, My 2 and 4 year old grandsons always found something they liked which included the delightful puddings. The steps were ok, not great with a buggy but we managed to live the tale and we definitely needed the exercise to work off the great food. I would recommend this hotel. I get what people meant about booking through Thomson, there was a rep there most days and for me that adds value as I never saw my Jet2 rep at all.More

Very nice hotel

Cerro mar is a great place fantastic view . And modern up to date apartments . the spa is also very nice  we didnt use it but it looked nice . The town  down a steep hill though so if you are not able bodied its not really for you as you need to tackle the hill or the long flight of steps. We sorted our taxi before we left uk as this was a " Do it yourself holiday" we were met by yellowfish taxis in the airport easy  to see as there was about 20 drivers waiting for people and they were all in yellow shirts . Very organised company actually , spoke English , had a nice clean car with free wifi and gave us luggage labels, and on our way home they weighed our suitcases so we didnt have problems at the check inMore
