The Cerro Mar Colina offers a choice of pools and a great line-up of activities, all topped off with sweeping views of Albufeira.
From its hillside position, this place comes with spectacular views over the Atlantic Ocean and Albufeira’s terracotta-topped old town. You can walk to the sandy shoreline in a 5 minutes.
Interiors are lovely and bright, with whitewashed walls and plenty of sunlight that streams in through floor-to-ceiling windows. Apartments carry the white motif, too, and they’re finished with simple furniture and sun-trap balconies.

We had a brilliant 4 days staying at the Cerro Mar Atlantico. We booked a 2 bedroom apartment (sleeps 6 but only 4 of our party stayed) & the 3 bedroom apartment (sleeps 8), this apartment was located on the top floor & was huge and the best part was the view from the terrace. I've been trying to get prices for 2015 & there doesn't seem to be availability for the 3 bedroom apartment. We visited the first weekend in October & the weather was amazing. Short walk down some steep steps to the Main Old town square & if you don't want to walk back up the steps (which I didn't lol ) it was roughly 4euro in a taxi. Great hotel, fantastic staff (Fernanda at the main hotel pool was an absolute star) Huge apartment. Amazing views.More

Forget about the steps
Spot on for those who wish to self cater. Only thing missing from the kitchen was a microwave - but then again we were not into ping ping meals. Do not get worried by all the comments relating to the steps. They are no worse than any others located near a riverside or seaside location. Just take your time and don't rush. Weather was absolutely fabulous for late October. Would definitely consider coming back.More

Nice hotel for family break
I visited this hotel with my wife and two sons aged 13 & 11, the hotel has very good rooms for self catering, we stayed in a two bedroom apartment overlooking the hillside on the 4th floor which was not a problem for us as we had great views of the old town and the balcony was a great sun trap in the afternoon, the apartment was very large and very well equipped with air conditioning in the lounge and bedrooms, the kitchen was well equipped which had a dishwasher, cooker, toaster, & kettle. The pool area was very nice with a reasonably priced bar selling a good range of drinks and snacks, My only gripe was the poor wifi coverage and the fact they want to charge 30 euros per week. The steps from the old town to the hotel are great for the young and fit, if you struggle to climb stairs or have a pushchair this will cause problems. We had a fantastic week and were very lucky with the weather. More

Our first time in Portugal and we loved it. Very hot. Couple of days 34 in Faro, about 32 near us. Had an upgrade in our apartment. Was spacious and well fitted kitchen. Had air con and we needed it. Were on 3rd floor with magnificent view to the sea and a decent sized balcony. Restaurant food was great with local dishes available. I like to be able to eat 'from the culture'. Breakfast was the same every morning, but enough selection to find different combinations each day, and the fresh oranges, peeled and sliced ready to eat were great. For those who wish to self cater Aldi and Lidl about 10 mins walk away. Staff were friendly and helpful, we had done our own bookings which meant on the first night we arrived after the restaurant had closed, however, they opened and cooked a meal just for us. How's that for service! Probably wouldn't return to this hotel due to its location. We are middle/ late sixties and reasonably mobile. We went down 'cardiac hill' several times and up it once. We discovered with a slightly longer walk round by the bus station (about 20 mins)it was possible to avoid the steps completely come round the dual carriageway to near Lidl, then drop down to the hotel. Much easier, and would be easier for those with pushchairs etc. The final time we caught a taxi back as it was soooo hot. Cost 5 euros with tip. Well worthwhile. The other 'problem '.the bin men seem to do their round at midnight, and they are not quiet! Went in the hotel pool several times( there were several pools but we had one just below our apartment ). Lovely swim, bit chilly to first get in and then ok. Stayed in quite a while and did some lengths. Loved the old town and market square, so much character. Beach nice too, although sea rough. Parasols and sun beds 15⬠for two for the day! thought a bit expensive. Went out on a historic Algarve coach trip, bit long, but interesting. Also took the open top bus to the wetlands to look at the wildlife. Lovely trip, saw some distant flamingoes.More

Loved The Cerro Mar
This was our first time in Portugal and using Thompson's, it was great everything was covered door to door service. The apartments are well equipped with everything you need for self catering. Washing machine and dish washer, take your own wash tablets as they only sell large quantities in the little shop, I packed enough for our stay. We didn't get to stay around the pool we were in the back of the Cerro Mar overlooking a bit of scrub land we could see the sea though, we didn't mind because it was nice and quiet without anyone over looking us on our balcony and we had the sun from midday which was roasting. Everyone in the Main hotel reception where very helpful, the whole complex is amazing you can use all of it, both sides of the road it's all lovely it's a huge area. The only down side only if you have walking difficulties is the steps to the the square.. There are 110 of them, going down is fine but coming back is not for the faint hearted. There is a shuttle bus running regularly during the day which is great. I would definitely go back there everything is catered for I don't think you would find better, housekeeping comes in every day I didn't make my bed once in the 2 weeks we were there..More
