With theme parks, big beaches and a buzzy night scene, holidays to Orlando go all out.

Theme park capital

This city is all about the theme parks. You’ve heard of Walt Disney World Resort, right? There are six theme and water Parks to pick from there, before you even consider the likes of Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld and Legoland elsewhere. Each Disney Park is in a little world of its own, with restaurants, bars and shops. Disney Springs does this really well, while the Parks include everything from safari trips at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park to futuristic coasters at Magic Kingdom Park. Water-based thrills are also covered by Disney's splash-happy duo – Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park. That’s how to do it…

Best of the rest

But that’s not all it’s got. The city of Orlando’s got a tonne of theatres, golf courses and shopping malls, too. I-Drive’s packed with attractions like Madame Tussauds, sci-fi museums and a 400-foot-tall observation wheel – not to mention a load of restaurants and bars. And out of town, you’ve got bargain-filled outlet centres.

Day trips

Orlando’s not all manmade marvels. Florida’s full of top sights, from state parks to lakes, springs and forests. Head up to Crystal River to swim with manatees, watch rockets take off at the Kennedy Space Center or cop a spot on Cocoa Beach. For a full-on road trip, set the sat nav for the Everglades, where you can zoom through the mangroves on an airboat.
