5 days in Corfu with @shot.byjose and @roamingwithmaria

If Greece is on your holiday wishlist, let Corfu convince you. Think golden beaches, whitewashed buildings and an unreal foodie scene… Here’s everything we got up to during our five-day trip to this sun-soaked island…

Day 1: Arrival in Paradise

Our journey began with a departure from Bristol Airport to Corfu. TUI offers WhatsApp access on board, which we thought was pretty cool!

We checked into Iolida Corfu – this boutique hotel offers a truly perfect stay. After a lovely lunch, we decided to walk to the nearest beach, which is only a five-minute walk from the hotel. Later, we headed back to enjoy the pool and had a delicious dinner as part of our All Inclusive package, accompanied by a few cocktails.

Day 2: Exploring around

We woke up to lovely views of the sea and had a relaxed start before our adventure began. We decided to set off around 9am towards Porto Timoni, one of the best places to visit in Corfu. We parked in the village of Afionas and started our hike down to the twin bays. The descent took about 30-40 minutes and was a beautiful, albeit rocky, trail that winds through olive groves and wild herbs.

About 20 minutes into the walk, we reached the famous viewpoint, which offers the most incredible panoramic photos of the two bays. From there, we had the option to continue down a steeper, more rugged path to the beach for a swim, or just soak in the view from the top. We chose to visit the main viewpoint to capture those iconic shots, then grabbed some cold drinks at the nearby canteen to refresh ourselves before exploring more of the charming village of Afionas. Since we hired a car, we had the freedom to move at our own pace.

Our next stop was for cocktails at the Aquarius Restaurant Bar, and we spent the afternoon at Canal d’Amour, which is a must-see in Corfu. We also visited the Holy Monastery of Panagia and grabbed a Freddo cappuccino at Café Kanoni to enjoy the stunning views of Mouse Island and the Vlacherna Monastery, plus the unique experience of watching planes land and take off right over the bay.

Finally, we went back to the hotel to relax after an amazing day, enjoyed dinner and got some well-deserved sleep.

Day 3: By the Beach and in the Old Town

After breakfast at the hotel, we picked up some fruit at the local market and headed to Barbati Beach. We spent the day at Bahia Mare beach club; the cocktails were amazing and the prices were great. We absolutely loved it! In the afternoon, we went to Faliraki Beach for another dip. The location and the views were stunning – we’re so in love with this place!

After drying off, we went to the Old Town to get some gyros and Greek frozen yogurt. We loved exploring the tiny streets, listening to the live music, and visiting the beautiful local shops before heading back to the hotel.

Day 4: Boat daytrip

After breakfast at the hotel and grabbing some snacks at the local market, our driver picked us up for a half-day private boat trip around Paleokastritsa, all booked through First Choice Experiences. After the team explained how everything worked, we started our adventure on our own. It was so easy to manage, and since we booked a boat without needing a licence, everything went very smoothly. We found such dreamy spots and stopped wherever we wanted to listen to music, read, and enjoy the views.

Returning to the port, this was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. We decided to make one last stop in the Old Town to wander around, get some drinks at Mikro Cafe, and pick up some souvenirs.

Day 5: Back home

It was our last day in paradise! After checking out of the hotel, we decided to visit La Grotta Beach Bar for some fresh juice and a Freddo coffee. We enjoyed one last dip in the water before heading to the airport for our afternoon flight back home.
