Holidays to Skiathos are all swanky bars in the capital, dreamy beaches and scenery straight from the movies.
Once is never enough
Nicknamed the boomerang island because visitors just keep coming back for more, it's easy to see why people fall in love with Skiathos. Between mainland Greece
, this little North Aegean island
boasts some of the best beaches around, separated from each other by untouched countryside and a sprinkling of quaint villages.
You might find yourself bumping into A-listers in the island's glitzy capital, Skiathos Town
. Streets here are lined with designer boutiques, luxe nightclubs and fancy restaurants, while the harbour's packed with gleaming six-figure yachts and Champagne-cork-popping bars. There's also an old town where you can spend an afternoon soaking up some of the island's rich history.
In the northern corner of the island, Skiathos Castle overlooks the scene from a huge cliff. If you can make it to the top, you'll be rewarded with impressive views down to the beach and across the Aegean Sea towards mainland Greece. It takes about three hours to get up there on foot.
