Palm Wings Beach Resort

An adults-only pool and lots for kids gives this place a head start for families.

This large complex is made up of a main building and bungalows dotted across colourful gardens. Steps lead onto the little beach and, beyond, Altinkum is about 15 minutes’ walk away.

There’s a great pool scene here, with special mention going to the adults-only pool for its relaxed vibe. Littler guests are well catered for, too, with waterslides and a Thomson-run kids’ club.

Nice hotel

My husband and I visited this hotel with our 2 children aged 14 & 6 First impressions weren't great. Hotel reception is very dated and could do with a revamp. No drink on arrival, was left to stand around waiting for the bell boy to take us and our luggage to the bungalow for 10 minutes at least, as you can imagine after traveling with kids all day and the heat this felt like an eternity. We were then taken on a golf buggy style cart to our room, my 6 year old daughter and I had to hang on tight as it went quite fast. We had 2 bungalows but they weren't next to each other, my husband went back to reception and they gave us the bungalow next door without any hesitation. Rooms were clean and tidy and had everything you needed, bed comfortable, clean bathroom, air con which was a little loud but kept us cool, overall we couldn't complain. Towels provided sometimes left a funny smell on you which I didn't like and beach towels were most days damp when you received them. Pool was the most amazing pool I've ever seen and I've been to a lot a hotels around the world. It was massive and really really clean, kids loved it. Music around the pool was a little too loud, I didn't mind but my husband didn't like it being so loud. You could always get a sun lounger regardless what time you went the pool there was more than enough. Ice creams from 12-5 by the pool, which was great. Pool snack bar would do chicken, burgers, chips ect, it did get a bit boring as it was the same every day but you could go to the main restaurant and have lunch, which we chose to do most days. Cakes served from 4-6 Shop inside hotel was very reasonably priced. All toilets around the hotel were very clean. This hotel could be great and we did have a nice time but a few things let it down. First was the amount of staff in the dining hall, this was probably the biggest dining hall I've ever ate in at a hotel with the least staff, the staff worked so hard but there was just not enough of them, the tables were always not set, unless you got there first, you had to run around after the staff for cutlery, bottled water, napkins clean table cloths, it was a nightmare. What they should do is leave the cutlery out for people to take if they can't replenish quick enough. It was 1 napkin each. There just weren't enough staff for the size of the room, which was a real shame as the staff worked really hard. Food was ok and you always got something to eat but most days it was warm not hot, but always well presented, replenished quickly and tasty. Alcoholic drinks were awful, if you wanted anything decent you had to pay, wine was drinkable and they would do cider or sangria by the pool at night which was the best thing they served, we didn't bother with anything else. The golf buggy things the bell boys drove were a nightmare, they would drive so fast around the complex you had to jump out of the way sometimes and they were oblivious to small children around. ( not good) Hotel spa and hairdressers was also very reasonable. Reps were around everyday if you ever needed anything. Bar staff very friendly and great with the kids. Day entertainment by the pool was fun and lots of it, kids club/ mini disco was the best I've ever seen and the longest. Night entertainment was great some nights and a bit hit and miss others. The fire show was great. We ate out one night at a restaurant called Gusto, WOW!! ask the guy who works in the spa he will give you the details, very good prices and beautiful food, atmosphere was great and the staff were amazing. Overall we had fun and the kids enjoyed themselves. This is a good hotel but could be great if they changed a few things. More

Amazing place, amazing people!!!

I would recommend this hotel to anybody and would definitely go back! Clean, roomy, beautiful bungalows with private patio area and well maintained gorgeous gardens all around. Food choice is fresh salads and a large selection of hot meals to choose from as well as food cooked in front of you of your choice while you wait. Surrounding area is great with a 20 min walk to lots of shops, restaurants and bars. Or a 5 min taxi ride. Highly recommend GUSTOS restaurant. Billy works in the spa in the hotel, his family own Gustos, Billy puts on a free taxi for you there and back and books the table for your preferred time. Food was amazing and on a Wednesday entertainment after your meal, it was incredible, dancers similar to diversity doing flips right in front of your table on a dance floor space, then Billy and the other waiters get the customers up doing party dances WMCA etc, fantastic atomasphere, our kids loved it as did we. We went to Gustos twice. In the hotel the slides were great the pool area has plenty of sun beds. There is a baby/toddler pool and a massive pool that was deep same level everywhere. I'm 5"4 and could stand on ballerina toes in it. Kids were fine with arm bands on and loved it. Animation team were so friendly and kids cried when we were leaving as they will miss them. This holiday was suitable for couples or families. Hotel not full of English, lots of nationalities. There is a photo team, Professional photographer Bora took photos over the two weeks of the kids on slides, in the pool, did photo shoots when we were ready at night, with sun set etc, really good quality photos for a good price too, great memories to keep and also good for presents, they put photos on mugs, sleight, key rings, magnets etc. talk to Bora he was great!! People who moan about food, food is a personal choice. But there is plenty to choose from here. I would recommend the a la carte restaurants too they had sea views, great service, lovely. Wi fi was hit and miss in the hotel, but you know what, turn your phone off your on holiday!! Lol! Beach disco is 12:30 every night we went twice and kids allowed too,so funny, you need to experience this!! Drinks, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, juice, alcohol, available 24hours per day at various bars.Lots of activities for adults around the pool, aqua aerobics, darts, shooting, swimming races, games in the pool, volley ball. On site kids club or Thompson/ first choice who we went with were great our boy age 7 and girl age 6 loved it. Boat trip, don't book in the hotel, short walk into town we got a boat trip, family of four for £17! Pick up from hotel and drop off, boat trip 9:30-5. Lunch included. Stopped at 5 bays to swim, lovely day out!! Room air con was fab, fridge with big bottle of fresh water every day, phone in room, hair dryer in room, beach towels free cleaned every day. Staff soooooo nice, can't do enough for you, they work so hard and always have a smile and a high five for the kids! Can't rave on enough about this amazing place.More

Family holiday

Had a lovely time bungalow and maid service was very good. Animation team great. Food virtually same every night got boring service drove us made the moment you put a folk down or glass it was taken away when it wasn't finished shame they didn't concentrate on empty dirty tables. Found transfer time too long with children. Would not return to this area.More
