Hotel Bitzaro Grande

A great location and a huge pool keep guests returning to the Bitzaro year after year.

The hotel’s on the outskirts of Kalamaki, just 5 minutes’ walk into town and double that to the soft-sand beach. Keep an eye out for loggerhead turtles - the sands are their nesting turf.

At the hotel, there’s a huge pool and a big buffet restaurant that serves up a real mix of dishes. There's also a decent portfolio of activities and entertainment.

Lovely friendly hotel

I visited this hotel only last week with my friend for a week. This was both our first time in zante. It took us a while to find a hotel that we both liked the look of and we thought would be worth the money. I have to say it was very much worth the money we had a lovely holiday and cannot really fault this hotel!. All the staff are lovely and very helpful. They work so hard especially the entertainment staff! They are on the go all day in that heat. We joined in with water aerobics which was funny! Theodore who serves food on the outside area is lovely. They all take the time to get to know your names individually. The food is really good. There's always plenty of different choices each day ranging from salads to pasta to all different meats and a range of different cakes / pastries. The pool bar service is great. They have a variety of different cooked options such as chips or burgers and also domes with cakes in or ice cream to help yourself too. The cocktails on the all inclusive can be strong!! Our hotel room was lovely it was on two floors therefore we had plenty of extra space to lay our clothes out and be messy! Ha ha. We had a working TV to listen to music whilst we get ready for the evening and also two balconys to ourselves. We only really used the one which had a great view overlooking the pool area. The maids are great and keep the rooms tidy and clean everyday. They change towel's and bedding every other day and I also saw them changing the covers of the lobby sofas in a morning! The outside pool area is lovely. We stayed round this area for about half of our time on holiday and thoroughly enjoyed it. You don't have to get up at the crack of dawn to be able to get a sunbed as there are plenty to choose from. The area is clean at all times and the atmosphere is great. We didn't really venture much into kalamaki however there are lots of different restaurants and bars if you want this. However being all inclusive we didn't need to do so. You can walk within a few minutes to the kalamaki strip and can get into laganas in a taxi in about 10 minutes. The transfer from the airport Is about 5-10 minutes so not long at all! We only had a couple of minor things we didn't like which was the pillows they weren't great and also the wifi is not a good connection. However these are not essentials and didn't effect our stay here. Another thing to mention is because the airport is so close you do hear the plane's coming in to land and taking off quite loud. However this didn't bother us. And throughout the night I didn't hear one at all. If you choose to come to zante I would definitely recommend this hotel and would recommend that you join the smugglers cove trip which is just beautiful and only takes up half the day. Also the trip to kefalonia! This is a long day however is very much worth it as the island is also beautiful. You get a lot for your money in these trips. So overall a lovely holiday and a fabulous hotel.More

Lynsey C,

Excellent

Once again a excellent stay at this family run hotel the food was even better than before Thomas who does the entertainment has organised a trip to see the turtles and it is the best trip on the island 10 euros and you won't be disappointed,if u r into horse riding just make sure u go to the correct one called Nana Horses and not Lagana Horses which r poorly treated and they have no care for there riders ,, we used nanas horses this time, they collect and drop u off from your hotel and while my two daughters went out riding for 2 hours we stayed at the traditional Greek farm/house we were fed with Greek food all made on site, soft drinks available and proper homemade wine all for free,we left nearly 3 hours later quite tipsy, this stay and this hotel and resort is just amazing no faults at all More

Snhopey,

Excellent stay

I seemed to have had my review disappear for this excellent hotel so just wanted to add another star to its rating. Anybody looking at reviews and pondering over booking up here, book away, you will be delighted. My wife and I stayed a few years back and can honestly say it was the most relaxing two weeks we have ever had. Super clean, beautiful gardens, lovely pool, food was great and the weather was to die for. BUT... What makes this hotel is the staff. Nikki, Thomas and the team were so friendly and accommodating it felt as though they had known you for years. They are a credit to this place. The only reason we haven't returned is due to having a little one and I think it's best for couples who want a few laughs and some nice R&R. But we will be back and would highly recommend a visit here, you really will come back happy!!More

Very good holiday

First of all our flight was delayed 5 hours! We were meant to arrive at the hotel at around 6/7pm(their time) and we got there after 10pm therefore missing tea.. The man on reception kindly saved us some food! This was very kind. The pool was fantastic and kept clean. The rooms are quite outdated but this wasn't a problem As you don't go on holiday to spend it in the room. The buffet food was good, had a range of food on each day and night.. Good selection and good quality. The drinks were good- alcohol was local brands which was all good quality. The staff were friendly and helpful, always smiling. The only problem was the wifi - although probably not an issue for some - the speed was awful. To be honest it's not surprising given Zante as a whole isn't as up to date with technology. The location of the hotel is good, in the quieter town of Kalamaki with a short drive into Laganas (party town). Kalamaki has plenty of decent bars and restaurants and quite a few tourists shops. Overall we had an excellent holiday and would visit this hotel again if ever wanted to go to Zante. More

emilyga1995,

By no means perfect but we had a great time here.

At the time of writing this review 90% of the reviews are Excellent or Very Good. Pretty impressive!. Of course there will always be the occasional cock up by a tour operator or the hotel that will generate a bad review but not many here. We read many of the reviews and have to say our experience was much the same as other guests on our visit to the Bitzaro Grande. Overall impressions. The staff are welcoming, friendly and hard-working. Rooms are adequate and maybe due for the promised refurbishment but by no means offensive. Televisions are dated but what else do you need for the news and weather. Pool area and amenities are reasonable. Food seemed good to us - despite it being buffet only. Some reviewers criticize the food but there are only so many permutations of meat, veg and dessert you can come up with in a 7-14 day period. If you don't like all-inclusive go somewhere else that serves a la carte. The beer and wine options worked for us - backed up with occasional forays to the local supermarket - and we didn't have any "morning after" headaches. The entertainment was............. well all I can say is I would not want their job and fair play to them they do work hard at it (the horse-racing wore me out after the first night). WiFi was my one big gripe. Many people rely on it these days - and the BG advertises free WiFi that is totally inadequate. I ended up buying into the Ionian service (on sale at the Reception Desk. Is there commission involved here?) to get a half-reasonable connection. The hotel is located at the far west end of Kalamaki on the road to Laganas, There are a few local shops and restaurants but it is a bit of a trek into the main shopping / eating area. It is a casual 10 minute walk down to the beach - which I have to say is one of the best I have experienced. Kalamaki Beach Taverna right by the beach. Not too many sunbeds. Crystal clear water. Fish waiting to be fed. Pedalos to ride out into the bay to spot turtles. The planes landing and taking off are an entertainment not a problem. The Bitzaro Grande has no pretensions to be a luxury hotel. It's an all-inclusive catering for holiday-makers who want to sit/lie back, relax, eat, drink, be merry and go home with a sun tan. We did all those things and thoroughly enjoyed Zakynthos.More
