The hotel’s on the outskirts of Kalamaki, just 5 minutes’ walk into town and double that to the soft-sand beach. At the hotel, there’s a huge pool and a big buffet restaurant that serves up a real mix of dishes.

After your 4th visit to the Bitzaro, you get a gold wristband and lots of freebies. So it says something about this hotel that it’s chock-full of people wearing gold wristbands.

Bit of a let down

we travelled to the Bitzaro Grand in August with 4 adults and three 18 year olds and booked this hotel based on the great reviews on trip advisor, sadly the hotel did not live up to the reviews in my opinion. hotel staff are fantastic, they are always smiling and will go out of their way to help you, cleaners do a fabulous job at keeping the hotel clean in all areas (apart from the toilet by the stage) and the reception area is a lovely place to relax and cool down when air con is on. rooms are very dated and would benefit from a refurb, our room was quite dark and oppressive, a plus for the rooms is that the beds are very comfortable. the pool area is really nice and you could always get a sunbed regardless of what time you came to the pool, the food served at the pool bar was good, basic but nice, food in main restaurant was lovely at times and bad at times but good variety although some food did run out quite quickly, breakfast was always good and the porridge was especially nice, there didn't seem to be any queue's for drinks at the bars (except when it rained) and you could serve yourself at beer pumps in main restaurant and bar. overall we did enjoy our holiday and liked the location as the main strip area was just a few minutes away, however i feel that there were a few things that really let the hotel down, the two tier all inclusive system needs to go, rewards for returning guests included free pool towels and free 24 hour air con and they are identified by a different colour wristband, i'm all for rewards for returning customers (i once received flowers and chocolates in my room upon arrival for being a returnee) but for a 4 star all inclusive hotel i would have thought towels and air con were standard, this is not a cheap hotel and my money is as good as anyone else's. thomas (entertainment manager) is lovely and is very committed to keeping you entertained with very little resources, the entertainment area is too small for a hotel this size, and games around the pool are mainly quizzes through the day and audience participation type games at night, i would suggest thomas needs a bigger team and a bigger entertainment area, entertainment feels like it is done on a shoestring budget and desperately needs some money spent on basic essential such as props, most hotels provide certificates for the winners of daytime games and are presented as part of the evening entertainment, this didn't happen at this hotel and it's little things like this that can make a holiday memorable. there is very little in the hotel for teenagers to do (18 yr olds) and ours spent most nights entertaining themselves at the bars on the strip which was quite costly for three of them! a few nights Thomas would take guests out on pub crawls and these were really good night! it did rain quite a bit when we were there and I know that the hotel can do nothing about the weather but they could have contingency plans in place for when it does rain, the pool bar was fit to burst with people looking for shelter, this could have been eased by opening the main reception bar as there was a covered outside area there where people could have sat while waiting for rain to go off. on one occasion the pool area became flooded and had to be closed for a little while, this left the reception area completely packed with people who had nothing to do. since returning home i have looked back over the reviews and wondered if there have been some staff/other cuts at this hotel as I just wasn't feeling the same vibes as the many people who seem to love this hotel. if it wasn't for the main strip being so close by I think I would have become really bored very quickly as there just isn't enough to do in the hotel. Every member of staff at this hotel are a credit to the Bitzaro Grand and made us feel really welcome but unfortunately I would not return here.More

I cannot state enough on what a great hotel the Bitzaro Grande is. I stayed here 4/9/2014 till 11/9/2014 The staff are outstanding they go way past the extra mile to be helpful, they are really friendly they knew my name and what my favourite drink was by the end of the first day. The food was awesome every day was a different meal with a large verity to chose from and every one was delicious. There was plenty to eat and drink at the pool side bar when the restaurant is closed The hotel itself is beautiful really clean and tidy the rooms was cleaned every day to a good standard, the pool was very clean and the toilets for the pool aria was to the same high standards. The WIFI could do with being better but if that's the only problem to be found it's not such a bad problem as it's good not to Face book the whole of your holiday lol. Again I would like to say how friendly ALL the staff are and made every person feel special it is a fantastic hotel and would recommend it 100 per cent.More

We travelled in July/August this year and firstly I cannot fault any of the staff, all fantastic, helpful and attentive. The hotel was very clean in all public areas and rooms, however rooms, particularly bathrooms could do with an update. The food was good, pancakes were a plus and cooked fresh, however all food in general could be hotter and on occasions they ran out of the carvery at least an hour before the restaurant closed. The hotel seriously needs to decide whether the two tier system is a good idea. (I am by no jealous of a gold wristband slapped around your wrist as you strut around the pool area). We have all paid good money for the same holiday and should expect the same service. However on several occasions, this was not the case. Certain 'loyal' members thought they could cut queues, help themselves, reserve tables and ask for 'the good stuff' whilst ordering drinks. I understand they clearly enjoy the hotel but Greece and the rest of the world has a lot to offer. Also, when the bar closes at midnight, while people are still enjoying themselves, the lights are switched off as if to hurry you to go to bed. After the all inclusive stops it would be nice to be able to buy a drink rather than have to go out to get one. Finally, I must comment on Thomas and his animation team who try their very best to get people involved and create an entertaining atmosphere on very limited resources. I feel it would be useful for the hotel to give him more to work with to improve.More

Spent a week at this fabulous hotel returning on 10 September. The staff were out of this world. Everyone we encountered was nicer than the one before. They ALL go out of their way to make you feel so special and individual. Rooms are spotless clean and towels are changed every day. The restaurant offers meals to suit every taste and it is probably the finest hotel we have ever have had the pleasure of staying in. It is perhaps a wee bit pricier than other hotels in the area but is well worth the extra couple of pounds. GO FOR IT!More

The grand bitzaro grande

We have just returned from another great hol at this lovely hotel & was given a lovely welcome as we arrived ,a quick and fast check in as usual we went for lunch & was greeted by the waiters & waitresses with kiss & a hug apostopolis ( if I have got ur name wrong I'm sorry ) teaches us a little Greek every day in the evening your met at the dining room by the lovely karen the food is amazing the Chinese night was something else the chef is a fantastic cook costas at the top bar is a lovely boy he's my second husband ( ha ha I wish ) he works very hard but be careful his drinks are a bit on the strong side but not complaining you get service with a smile ! And nikki the beautiful lady on the pool bar is the nicest most pleasant lady I have ever met works very hard & does it with a smile if I have left anyone out I do appoligise we have booked for next yr May & sept the other guests whom we meet every year make our holiday complete as for tom the entertainment manager does a great job with his team oli oli oli & lovely Laura they amuse us & keep us laughing day & night & tom goes above & beyond his job title & will go out of his way to help anyone in need ( tom ur a gem ) & ghelly the manager don't let negative reviews upset you please as they are not worth it your hotel would not always be fully booked if it was not the best love you all & see you soonMore
