Hotel Bitzaro Grande

A great location and a huge pool keep guests returning to the Bitzaro year after year.

The hotel’s on the outskirts of Kalamaki, just 5 minutes’ walk into town and double that to the soft-sand beach. At the hotel, there’s a huge pool and a big buffet restaurant that serves up a real mix of dishes.

After your 4th visit to the Bitzaro, you get a gold wristband and lots of freebies. So it says something about this hotel that it’s chock-full of people wearing gold wristbands.

Excellent hotel and quality staff

Holiday 11-21 September 2014.Just back from our holiday in Zante. Stayed at Bitzaro Grande hotel in Kalamaki.. Possibly one of the best hotels we have stayed in, especially as food goes. Excellent varied choices of quality meals, breakfast, lunch and evening.. Special mention to ALL the staff in the hotel were hard working, very friendly and always had a smile to greet you with.. Bedrooms of good size, always clean and tidy, and being that we were 4 couples on holiday we were nicely surprised upon arrival to be given 4 rooms next to each other, all with balcony overlooking the pool area,(which was a nice size with plenty of sunbeds). If your preference is a beach, then Kalamaki has a sandy beach with beach bar&toilets, just a short 10 minute walk from the back of the hotel,(well worth it). and from there a nice walk 15 + mins round the bay to Laganas...Back at the hotel there are day & night games organised by animation team (Thomas Oli & Laura). They also organise every friday @2300hrs, Bingo, followed by a pub crawl. on the Kalamaki strip, where there are some good bars, restaurants and enjoy...Overall a great holiday, would recommend to anyone .More

Fantasic 11 nights

Date stayed 7 - 18 September 2014 We have just returned from our first visit to Zante and the Bitzaro Grande Hotel and we will definitely be back for another visit. On arrival we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were clean and tidy with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool area. What makes this hotel special is the friendliness of the staff and this seems to help in meeting other friendly guests as we did. Special thanks to Karin who greeted us at the dining room door every evening with a smile on her face and who knew your name and room number after day one. All of the dining room staff worked really hard and were extremely efficient and friendly, especially Apostolis and Iliana who seemed to be there for all meals every day of our stay! During the day food and drink is served in the pool bar by Nicky, who works extremely hard on her own but always with a smile on her face. In the evening, in the upstairs bar, you will be greeted by Kostas and Ionut who are memory men and remember what you like to drink after the first order. They always serve you with a smile and a joke. Lastly but by no means least, the cleaning staff - particularly the cleaner who cleaned 238 & 239. She never had a day off and was always smiling and did a great job for us. There was a fantastic choice of food every evening and the dishes were never repeated. We have no complaints about our stay at this hotel and would recommend it to anybody. Michael (Junior) & Tracy Room 238 Michael (Senior) & Cynthia Room 239More

michael c,

We have just returned after our 4th visit to this hotel. Well what can I say about this special place. If you want a holiday where you are welcomed as soon as you arrive at reception and made to feel at home carry on reading this review. This hotel is amazing, it is exceptionally clean and the rooms are very comfortable they are cleaned every day by the lovely cleaners who work really hard and have always got a smile and a hello for you. Most rooms overlook the pool with a balcony or there are some that overlook the mountains, all are excellent. All the Staff at this hotel are always so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Nikki at the pool bar serves you once with a drink and immediately knows your name and drink, what a lovely lady! works hard all day and everyday. The entertainment team run by Tom work so hard to make sure everyone enjoys themselves with the activities during the day but if you want to just relax and read a book thats fine, they leave you to it. The food it amazing thanks to the Chef and there is always plenty to choose from, everyday was different and nothing repeated. (We stayed for 11 nights). My other half is so fussy with food but he always found a dish every day that he loved. If you have children there is always the kiddies corner which has fish fingers, spaghetti bolognese and chicken nuggets and chips etc.. There were pancakes cooked fresh every morning and in the evening there was always a different speciality dish cooked fresh on the grill outside. You cannot fault the food at this hotel. As for the location, it is ideal if you like a short walk to the beach (approx. 5 mins) the beach is unspoilt and sandy, you can walk miles along this beach, so plenty of room for sunbathing. The town of Kalamaki is only a short walk and there are plenty of bars shops restaurants etc. The pool area is lovely and clean and there are always plenty of sunbeds whatever time of day. The entertainment in the evening arranged by Tom is excellent whether it is the animation team putting on a show (so funny!!) or a group singing, karaoke, or one of Colin's shows (such a good laugh!!) and not forgetting the amazing Greek Night not to be missed. There is always entertainment for someone, well done Tom. We have made so many friends here, we will be returning again to this lovely family run hotel next year for 2 wonderful weeks. Well done to everyone at the BItzaro GrandeMore

Beautiful place

Myself and my in laws stayed at this hotel for 1 week to attend a wedding (not at the hotel), and it was beautiful, the rooms were spotless and very comfortable, myself and my partner had a balcony facing the front of the hotel which was nice and quiet (room 205) only issue being that the shower was small and often flooded the whole bathroom when used and there wasn't good ventilation in the bathroom so it became damp and warm with no escape for the heat. The air con was a little confusing at first but it was fabulous and kept the room cold during the night which was good during the warm weather. The hotel was very busy in July and often the dining room was packed and we were a big party of 7 and struggled to get a table together at peak meal times which led us to waiting until later to get food, and getting a sun lounger any time after 8:30am proved difficult. The pool area was clean as was the pool itself. The pool bar at lunch time was busy and could be confusing to get food because the staff called your name when your food was ready and hearing them shout was not always clear because of music/ kids playing. The wifi was pretty good but limited to the hotel reception. The staff were very pleasant and done anything to help (including reserving a table at the restaurant if they knew we were coming with such a large group). Overall this hotel was lovely the food was pleasant enough with a fair selection, the staff and rooms were wonderful and I would recommend this to a family with kids or a couple looking for a romantic getaway :)More

Fantastic Hotel and Staff

Date stayed: 3-17 Sept 2014. First trip to Zante and will definitely go back. The staff at the Bitzaro Grande are fantastic and very friendly, especially Kostas in the Reception bar, and Tom in entertainments. I recommend going on Tom's island jeep safari on Sunday, its a fantastic way to see the island with some stops to have a swim and admire the amazing scenery. The rooms are more than adequate and cleaned to a high standard every day. The food was by far the best I've had at an all-inclusive hotel, always a great selection and very well cooked. The bar staff weren't shy with the measures as well! The only negative was that the fantastic outside dining area was spoiled by other guests smoking while dining. Very selfish in my opinion. I see people complaining about the "gold bands" however I hardly noticed any difference, I certainly didn't feel like I was treated any different. I personally didn't take part in any of the entertainment or games, but the people that did clearly had fun and it wasn't too intrusive if you just wanted to relax by the pool. Kalamaki town was nice and laid back, some nice tourist shops and friendly locals. For cocktails, I would recommend either the Look Up bar or Red Tails on the main strip, or the Oceanic bar down by the beach, for eating out Ambrosia was very good. Overall, a fantastic holidayMore
