We visited this hotel at the beginning of June 2017 with two children aged 7 and 11. We were like others not sure what we were going to expect however we needn't have worried. This hotel is stunning and immaculately clean and tidy. Staff all of the time cleaning and polishing. The pools are beautiful and a welcome cooling break after being in the sun. There are two pools that are heated and the salt water pools aren't but are lovely. Sun beds are available so no need to dash out in the early hours to reserve them. The hotel is well set out with everything very accessible or if you want to be further away tucked under a parasol you can be. The hotel pool bar is really lovely with an indoor and outdoor seating area. It's modern and very clean and we only had to wait a minute or two for drinks. The staff are great and run off their feet trying to please everyone. The drinks are premium brands and a very good variation. There are ice creams available for the kids to help themselves to during the day. Some have said they're disappointed it's not self serve for drinks but I disagree as it's cleaner and easier to be served at the bar. The pool bar food consisted of burgers, chips, spring rolls, fish, soup, rolls, salad and different nibbles everyday. The food was great and we never went hungry! Cakes and doughnuts were served at about 4-5pm. The main restaurant was busy at times but how anyone can complain about the food is beyond me. The meat was always tender and again lots of salads, different meats, chips, potatoes, moussaka's, paellas and pizzas. My kids loved the buffet and the chocolate fountain. Drinks are served to you at the table which again I liked as there wasn't a rush and people spilling drinks everywhere. There's a pretty outside area to sit and eat too. The hotel bar is nice with indoor and outdoor seating which then leads to the main stage where the kids disco is followed by the evening entertainment. The evening entertainment was varied and the animation team were great. Some professional acts are brought in. The animation team worked tirelessly and with endless energy. They were fantastic with the kids remembering all of their names. The hotel manager was visible most days. My daughter wanted some white rice one evening and he asked his chef to cook her some. We also were given complimentary cava and chocolates at our room! That was a lovely touch. The rooms are great and ours had a bath and shower. It wasn't huge but clean, modern and ideal. We had a room (383) where the bedroom was separated with a door. Plenty of hanging space and the only criticism I would say is that more shelving or some drawers would help. Tv's in both rooms with cbbc and CBeebies!! Beds are very comfy as is the sofa bed which comfortably slept my kids. Air con and ceilings fans in the rooms and a small fridge. Our patio area was enclosed and private but all of the patios were large and space for loungers and comfy seats! The grounds are stunning and green with lots of flowers and pretty trees. There is a pool with two slides which my two loved. The animation team put on activities all day and our favourites were the Aqua Fun and the zorb ball. The kids club is the best we have ever experienced and the facilities are second to none. Indoor ball pit and climbing area, indoor trampoline and chairs and tables to draw/paint etc. Outside the kids club is the football/basketball area. Everything is nearby and your kids are very safe. There is also a teenagers room with games, pool tables and air hockey. A sofa or some seats would encourage the kids to socialise in there a bit more. There are football, tennis and volleyball courts within the Premium suites area. 10 minute walk to the beach! 4 Euro cab ride to the marina which is lovely. Wednesday and Saturday mornings there is a good market and plenty of restaurants/cafes. We had a great meal at the Italian restaurant in the hotel. Overall a beautiful hotel that has something for everyone. Staff are fantastic and the animation team (Anet, Vivi, Andrea and Hector and the others) were brilliant with the kids and adults. My kids were upset to leave as were we! On the last evening they held and outdoor glow stick/illumination party for everyone. That was great fun! We wouldn't hesitate returning to this hotel and I think we'll find it hard to beat. More
Fabulous holidays, great hotel!
We spent a week beginning juin 2017 in this hotel. Its was simply fabulous! The area around the bungalows is very well taken care of, fabulous trees and flowers everywhere! The bungalow was nicely furnished with bright colours, spacious bathroom with italian shower, nice terrace with 2 sunbeds as well as comfortable chairs with a small table which was perfect to enjoy your cup of coffee(instant coffee and tea provided in the family rooms and Nespresso in the suites) in the morning, or to just relax in the sun in the evening before going to dinner. The only negative part about the room is that the minibar (as described in the brochure) isn't a minibar but it appears to be kind of a fridge that will keep your drinks cool. No drinks in the room, not even water, no glasses, only cups for coffee and tea. The cleaning lady doesn't do the best job vacuuming the room floor. The pool area is very clean and it is fantastic, there is a nice area for babies and small children, and some slides which can be used by adults too (I tried them and had lots of fun :-) ) Plenty of sunbeds around the pool, no need to worry about that ;-) The water in the largest pool is way too cold (the ocean water was warmer). Fantastic food at the buffet restaurant, large choice of food and everything was delicious! We weren't able to try the "A la carte" restaurants since these very fully booked, eventhough one dinner at one of the "A la carte" restaurants was included in our All inclusive package. We always had lunch at the pool bar and the food was also good. There was a nice choice of salads, ham and cheese. As well as burgers, fries, and fishsticks. Nice choice of fruit too. Various choice of free drinks included in the All Inclusive package (Water, wine, Beer, sangria, margharitas and many more), free ice cream too. Staff was always very nice and helpfull. We had a very pleasant stay at Elba Lanzarote!More
Good and bad
As a group of adults, our stay at the Elba was a real mixed bag experience. Adult pool area: We really enjoyed our time lounging around the adult-only pool and bar - the staff were fantastic (Andreas in particular), the location, the comfortable loungers - but it felt like the adult area has been an after-thought by the hotel. For the volume of adult-only residents there wasn't enough space, the pool area was pretty small, moving from lounger to bar meant people were passing within 6 inches of you, and some loungers didn't have the top mattress which meant any latecomers were a bit uncomfortable. Perhaps a re-think / re-design is needed. Main pool area: we didn't use it as there were lots of kids - it looked like fun for them though. Rooms: were of a very good standard and cleaned regularly. Charging for the use of the in-room safe AND replacement coffee is a bit mean and detracts from the overall experience. Having an area outside to sit and hang up wet swimmys was great. Food: a great idea to have an adult-only restaurant upstairs and a families restaurant below, this worked really well. Overall, the quality of the food was not good. Breakfast: great selection of cold and cooked. Cooked food was pretty disgusting (sorry - it really was). One of the attending chefs (he was young) couldn't even cook a fried egg properly. The boiled eggs were gross - so dry. Ended up just having yogurt and muesli. Lunch by the pool was good - so applause to the chef on duty there! Dinner: oh my. If you have an Executive chef please ask him to experience what he's designed. Putting *lots* of hot food onto hot plates is the first mistake. The food was dried out - even the vegetables - and couldn't be eaten most nights. We were glad of the fresh bread. You really need to re-think how you prepare and serve your food. The waiting staff in the restaurant were very good. A la carte restaurant dining: guest have the choice of spending an evening in either the Italian restaurant or the French bistro - only one allowed per stay. We actually booked into both (and were willing to pay for our food) as the food was so bad in the main restaurant. We went to the Italian first. Remember, it's been marketed as a special dining experience....hhhhmmmm... We cancelled our booking for the bistro after our experience in the Italian. We're not fussy eaters but it was pretty poor quality - if you're going to offer a special dining experience, find quality chefs that can match your aspirations. Half board: this was an interesting experience. Many guest are all inclusive - we were half board. There is no cash exchanged in any of the bars or restaurants so at reception only you have to put cash onto your room in order to purchase anything (other than in the shop). Although we'd put cash onto our room, for 2 days for some reason it hadn't registered against our room. Fortunately, some of the bar staff trusted us and kept serving us. This hotel could be excellent if, those responsible stopped to think about the experience of their guests - walk in their shoes (or flip flops) - eat the food - lounge by the adult pool. Do more of the good and change the bad to be worthy of your 4 stars. More
Even though weather was not very good, the hotel was beautiful and clean. Only a 5/10 min walk from Playa Blanca where the restaurants are amazing. Staff in the restaurants were over all friendly however a few individuals at the reception didn't seem like they were bothered with our queries and came across rude. However this did not affect our holiday and we would come back! Food - not the best, great for breakfast however dinner was bog standard Buffett food. (If that's what you like it's great, I guess!) We ate there once but rest of time went into Playa Blanca where the food was amazing! Rooms - clean, spacious and the patio area was amazing! Only down side was the fact that the bathroom window was pretty much see through so people can see in (if they are looking haha!) but only at night time when the light is on. Pool area - gorgeous pool, very clean and generally one of the best pools I've been too! Over all would definitely go back, not every hotel will be perfect however this came pretty close ! More
Lovely hotel a few things need addressing
This is a super hotel we where upgraded to the premium adult section the villas where really nice with excellent large bed great outside area wifi was a bit hit and miss. The rooms where cleaned everyday to a high standard The food was very good with lots of choice my only compliant is the staff in the restaurant we only on the rare occasion found someone to serve us with a drink it was very hit and miss The Bar areas are a joke with long ques people waiting 10/15 mins to get served and then only getting 2 drinks we where a party off 4 so 2 of us went to the bar at a time making the ques even longer never in all my time at all inclusive resorts have I have seen such large ques with bar staff clicking there fingers to want you to come forward to be served I would suggest having a soft drink machine for customer use making ques at the bar much shorter I would hate to see it at peak time The pool area is fab with lots of sun beds we never had a problem getting a bed We would definitely come back if the queing was sorted out the bar staff need training and more staff need employingMore
