The Riu Yucatan has a lot going for it, from its beachside setting to its triple helping of pools.
It’s hard to tell where the pools end and the sea starts at the Yucatan – a powdery white beach runs right alongside the property. You’re only a 5-minute drive from Playa del Carmen’s bars and restaurants, too.
The rooms are really fresh and contemporary. Each one comes with a big flatscreen TV and a roomy balcony or patio.

Our first time in Mexico , we wasn't disappointed. It's position is by the beach that is white sand & turquoise sea . It has four restaurants. All four are worth a visit. It's a bigger hotel than I'm used to staying at but it runs like clockwork . The staff are great. The food is of a very high standard. I have no problem recommend it to anyone More
First Mexico vacation!
We stayed at the RIU for a week. The hotel was wonderful! Room was Clean and the air conditioner worked great! Plenty of drinks and food. Our room had a liquor dispenser, which was amazing, plus a fridge that was full of water, beer and soda and if you ran out they would come fill it. They had activities going on all day that you could join in on including bingo and horseshoes. When we went down to the beach all the lounge chairs were taken but one of the workers was walking around getting anyone chairs that needed them. The only restaurant we didn't get to try was the Mexican restaurant that you had to make reservations for. It was booked each time we tried. We started questioning if it really existed or not...the only thing I would do different was to go earlier in the year since it was very hot and humid during the first week of May.More
This is wayyyy past due! Had a wonderful time, and met great people from all over. All the staff were fantastic but we have to give a special shoutout to Vidal our fantastic host at the front desk. Can't say enough about how wonderful he is. From the moment we got there to the minute we left he was nothing short of amazing. He was friendly, was wonderful in making sure we had rooms together and the list goes on. Definitely amazing and I hope they realize how good he is! The resort was great, food was fantastic, drinks a plenty and amazing beach! No issues with chairs and the whole place spotless. Rooms pretty basic but clean which is the main thing. Have stayed at the Riu playacar before the Reno and it was good as well but honestly felt the food selection better at the yucatan. Hope to see you next year More
Eight time & still a charm.
This hotel has become a second home to my family. We have been going every spring after the Easter rush, and it keeps getting better every time. The majority of the employees from our first visit are still there. Rooms are adequate, grounds are well kept, and in my personnal opinion, the food is outstanding. Some people that review this property may think otherwise, but there is something for everyone in the buffet. Drinks are plentiful and the entertainment is adequate. If booking six months in advance, you can find a deal with some travel agency, and save some money. Booking at the last minute will cost you more in the long run. Will be going back in September to celebrate my wife's birthday.More
