Valamar Crystal

The family-friendly Valamar Crystal counts a close-to-it-all setting, a relaxing pool set-up, and lots of things to do as highlights.

This place has clinched a seafront spot in a pine forest clearing. You can walk to the ragged shoreline in a few minutes, and the Roman town of Porec is just a bit further on.

The hotel is well geared up for families, with lots of activities and separate pools for children and adults. Décor is cool and contemporary – rooms come with beech furniture and brightly painted feature walls.

We visited Croatia 13 - 20 September, and stayed at the Valamar Crystal Porec we had a fantastic stay. We didn't know what to expect as it is on a complex but we were more than impressed. Around the complex was always very clean, we noticed there was no litter anywhere, even in the town which was only a very pleasant 15-20 minutes walk away or you could use the road train. Our room which was on 3rd floor looking towards the sea was very spacious and the bathroom was always immaculate, Room had quiet air con. The room was serviced by Irena, she did a marvellous job. The restaurant food was delicious at both breakfast and dinner, very good variety and suitable for vegetarians. At most meals our waiter was Domonic, he was very pleasant and always had a smile, as did all of the Staff, they were polite and helpful. Drink prices were fair, not overpriced. The one downside was that there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms. Hotel owners, please consider adding this. We would definitely return to the Crystal.More

Even better than expected

Having read previous reviews on Trip-advisor, mostly positive, we were rather optimistic regarding Valamar Crystal, Porec at the Istria region of Croatia. The hotel was quite up to our expectation, modern, chic and very clean. We had a room on third floor with balcony facing the swimming pool. The buffet breakfast was delicious, with warm and cold dishes and cooks preparing omelettes and mouth watering pancakes. The dinner was also a buffet, where you could choose between fish and meat as well as vegetarian dishes. Everything was fresh and nice, actually very inviting like one of our fellow travellers put it.The swimmingpool and surroundings are also very nice and clean and we could borrow big bathtowels without extra charge. Porec is within 15-20 minutes walking distance along the beach and if you are not in the mood for walking there is also a tourist train. There are no sandy beaches but there are steps to ease the access to the water and everything is very neat. In Porec we did notice that even the streets are cleaner than in most European cities we have been to, at least at the beginning of the tourist season. There are several nice places where you can have some refreshments, coffee or beer at a reasonable price. The bakeries are also very tempting. The most interesting shops in Porec are jewellery shops with great selection of amber and also shops with nice handmade embroidered things such as tableclothes. We found out that the prices were very variable, without deliberate haggling and quite reasonable in the end. Last but not least I must mention that Porec seemed rather safe compared to other tourist destinations as we were also told by our guide.More

Just had a week here, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Porec is beautiful, clean and unspoilt. The hotel is situated in a quiet wooded area, close to the sea. The surroundings are very well-kept, with lots of outdoor seating and dining areas, as well as sun loungers in the gardened areas as well as at the poolside. Inside, the lobby is airy, spacious, extremely clean, with comfortable settees, and a bar for alcohol, soft drinks and coffees etc. There is entertainment on (singers/groups) every evening, either there or in one of the other 2 neighbouring Valamar hotels. The rooms are very large, the bathroom decent, with clean towels every morning. Our large patio faced out onto this open grassy area with trees and bushes. The staff all work exceptionally hard, and seem to do long hours. The were all friendly, very accommodating, and made us welcome. The food - a huge variety of different types of hot and cold things available in the morning and in the evening. Everything was fresh, attractively presented, and well-cooked. Out of the various places we've visited (Dubrovnik last year), this hotel and Porec itself has been the best place we've been. Couldn't find a single think to not like.More

Not a 4 star hotel

The hotel is in a lovely location and provides a good base to explore the area. The bathroom in our room (302) was small and had mould in the shower and the cleaner didn't seem to find the bathroom all week. The entrance door required maintenance to open it on the last night. The breakfast was stone cold on the last day,but food was good otherwise. People were waiting for the restaurant to open 20mins before it was due to open. Overall not bad,far from it,but not worthy of four stars.More

We stayed at this hotel in July 2014.August. The hotel is located very close to the sea ,and is surrounded by grass and pine trees, The rooms are lovely, clean, modern and spacious. Restaurant was usually quite busy but the food was plentiful, delicious with lots of choice. Fresh food was always available and cooked in the restaurant. The charming little town of Porec is a 15/20 minute walk away along a lovely coastal path. Porec has many restaurants, cafes etc. Highly recommended!!More
