Like a prison, this is worth a read

Basically I stayed at this hotel in June last year for two weeks with my girlfriend and her family at first the hotel stood out as fantastic honestly it was amazing fully renovated modern room couldn't fault it, BUT.. As the holiday went on we was told we wasn't aloud anywhere around the pool, lounge, gaming room or in the bar area after 12 midnight as they closed everywhere of then was told by security WE HAVE TO GO TO OUR ROOMS, OR IF WE WANT TO STAY UP GO TO A BAR OR A RESTAURANT!.. We decided to go upstairs and sit on the balcony.. Bare in mind we was with two kids who went to bed and was asleep we was having a quiet chat and drink on the balcony... The same security guard was whistling from outside the hotel and shouted up "NOT ALOUD ON BALCONY MUST GO INSIDE" we refused obviously as we was that shocked by his statement as we was Barely making a peep!, next news we get a hard loud bang on our door (the same security guard ) telling us to "be quite and keep of the balcony, then said it only may be used if you are having a smoke and as a non smoker I found that bizarre that I had to be a smoker to be aloud access to my balcony and for us it just completely put us of spending anytime what so ever in this hotel what a waste of £700+. The security guard did this on several occasions approached us and said we would have to go to our rooms EVEN WHEN THE WORLD CUP WAS ON THEY CLEARED EVERYONE OUT!, so if you want a set bed time and to be harassed and bossed around by the hotel security then this is the place for you otherwise give it a miss would only reccomend this hotel if your staying there soloMore

Luke M,

Too many kilos not a very good experience

We stopped here from 1st of May to 8th may, first off we arrived at the hotel and there was only one person on the check in desk we waited around 45 minutes to an hour to get checked in. After the long wait we decided to take our bags to the room and have a look around, the room was brilliant with a spacious balcony which we could t fault but the bathroom is very shabby and needs some restoration. We decided to venture out so we jumped in the lift which which dropped 2 floors hitting the floor with a Big Bang terrifying us. After pressing the alarm button 5 or 6 times we had a reply of too may kilos to many kilos. We was eventually rescued by a pleasant man who informed us that there was to much weight in the lift, bearing in mind we are three average sized people but the sign on the lift States 6 people with a maximum weight of 450 kilograms. I feel for the size of the hotel and pensioners who are unable to climb stairs this is an unsuitable size lift for the size of the complex. There has been more than three people going in to the lift that will weigh more than us three did and there has been no issues what so ever. We had no apology and feel for them to say to many kilos when this was clearly not this issue is absolute shocking. After the issue we tried to laugh it off an crack on with our trip only to see the hotel manager with a waiter pointing at us and laughing whilst we ate at dinner which was very uncomfortable and put us on edge and not being able to enjoy our stay. There has been no outdoor entertainment in the evenings and the indoor entertainment isn't worth watching, the staff are not very pleasant and just stand there talking and laughing in Spanish whilst you wait for a drink which I feel is rude. Considering this is quite a large chain of hotel the planing could have been better, when we arrived they were still cleaning the pool which was black and cleaning the sun bed area which feel is a little bit amateur considering they know guests are arriving. I'm not a holiday snob and didn't pay a massive amount for the trip but it's not nice to feel uncomfortable and not want to be at the hotel when you go away. There is a couple of staff who are lovely and can't do enough it's just a shame that other members of staff including management let the place down. All in all we will not be returning to this place again and I would advise people who want to feel warm and welcome not to bother coming here. We have been Salou 3 times now and never had a complaint but this place is not worth the stay. Here's to three more nights of feeling uncomfortable with some rude staff. More

Carl R,

our holiday june 2014

we stayed at the villa dorada june 10th to the 24th for my 30th birthday we normally stay at the vil la romana as that was sold out we chose to give this hotel a chance as it is owned by the same company.overall the stay was good it was nice to see bombon. We have been going to the vil la romana for over 5 years so this was a very different experiance. The service was good, the food was ok and the hotel was very clean. We would use this hotel again but the vil la romana is were my heart is as the team there remember our names and they always make us feel like we are at home.We are going back to the vil la romana on the 19th of june for a week then we are going again in September for our 5th wedding anniversary.More

Needs lots of improvement!

I stayed here last Sept with my two sons hotel is in a great location, five mins from the main strip and near the choice of two beaches I was all inclusive and was very disappointed at food as it was never warm! Staff were great except the hotel rep Dean as somebody else has mentioned is very rude and can not be bothered with anybody! Either to hungover or rushing away. Rooms were cleaned daily but very dated one shady socket for tv and only one other in bathroom next to a sink not very safe for charging phones. Entertainment staff were great but think turning the lights out at twelve is a joke as you can't see anything a lot of older people struggled with this.More
