It's the staff that did it! I travelled here with my friend and our respective kids (aged 11 & 7)....for an all-inclusive stay you're looking for the staff to be responsive and friendly. Wow! Everyone there made us feel so welcome and the staff were very efficient. At this point, I have to mention a staff member named Nelson. He was the highlight of the hotel! Mega-friendly, efficient and a real character. He played jokes on various guests (including us!) and is a real asset to a customer-focused environment. Brilliant. The pool was super and the smaller shallow one seemed well-used by the little ones too. The hotel has a policy of allowing nobody outside to reserve sun-beds until 09:00 so gives everyone a chance of getting one in that respect. The food hall was busy for breakfast and evening meals but always well stocked and had a good variety for pretty much everyone. Certainly, our two kids were always happy there. The hotel's location is ideal for the beach (500m or so) and for shops, bars, etc.. Oh, and the weather always helps....30 degrees every day for us. Well recommended. In fact, we've only been back home for two days and have been to the agents to book again for 2016......However, Thomson & Thomas Cook don't have it listed on their brochures for next year (??)!More

Very good Holiday

We went on the 21st August. When we arrived at the hotel the queue for check in was long with only 2 people on the desks, when we got through we got our all inclusive band straightaway but we waited 3 hour for our room. On the first day we got to know the entertainment team and participated in table tennis. On our first night There was mini disco for the kids and a stunt show at 10. If you want an early night at this hotel I wouldn't recommend booking as mainly the entertainment is on until 11:30 at night. Nelson on the bar is very funny and enthusiastic about his job. Alfie is definitely my favourite entertainer and on the last night he dressed me up as a clown and do mini disco, he also nicknamed me big bambino which was hilarious. The hotel could do with a upgraded games room as at least 2 things break everyday and then fixed by the next morning. Breakfast at this hotel gets boring after a few days as its all the same however dinner is very good with the food different everyday and the entertainers dress up as the theme. For some reason at this hotel everything includes a deposit including the TV remote at 20€. The location of this hotel is 5 minutes from cappelans beach and an extra 10 minutes to the main strip. WIFI in this hotel is amazing with it around the whole of the hotel including rooms unlimited for free.More

Loved it, we will return

Great holiday. We have just returned today from a one week stay at the villa dorada and had a really lovely time. I am quite a picky person so I will provide an honest review. Location: couldn't be better. 5 minutes from a beautiful quiet beach one way and 5 minutes from the main shops of salou in the other direction. We visited the main beach which is lovely but very busy. Entertainment The animation team at this hotel are fabulous and never stop working all day and night. Alfie and Bombon are a credit to the hotel. My kids loved taking part in all the activities day and night and they worked hard to include everyone or even just to sit and chat to you. The acrobat show was amazing. Finlay my son loved the entertainers (aka big bambino! ) The rooms Lovely and clean. We had a family room for 4 on the fifth floor overlooking the pool. You could see the sea from the balcony and it got full sun around 5pm. The cleaners work very hard to keep everything clean. I have stayed in 5 star hotels where the rooms have not been as clean as this one. Also the reception staff are very friendly, The food and drink We stayed on an all inclusive basis. The bar staff work very long hours but are always pleasant. Nelson and the blonde lady are a credit to the hotel. Didn't have to wait too long for a drink and you can have what you want. Snacks like burgers, chips, pizza etc available at the bar between meals. The hotel restaurant is ok. The food can become repetitive but it's the same in all all inclusive hotels. The food is fresh and plentiful with lovely fresh salad and fresh bread and a pasta bar. I cannot believe the reviews slating the food, there really is nothing wrong with it, if you dont like something you could make a sandwich or a lovely salad or could wait and get a burger or something later. I think people are expecting gourmet food on a lemonade budget, you get what you pay for. Fish was available at every meal freshly cooked infront of you. They do theme nights too, yesterday was Italian night and there is show cooking at every meal. The staff were very nice, even the manager but rightly so he stops people taking all the food from the restaurant and the drinks which is just plain greed. The pool There are two pools here. A main one and a small one for children. People start queuing at 8am for sunbeds. At 9am they start running for them, hilarious to watch. We like sunbathing but not enough to fight over the sunbeds. We managed to get a couple near the kids pool each day. You are not allowed to reserve the beds but this is not enforced. We witnessed people take loads of beds, like 8-10 for their family and then go out until the afternoon, not even using them. This shouldn't be allowed. At the weekend they had inflatables in the pool and on Wednesday they had a foam party which was fun. My daughter made loads of friends and never came out of the pool. She had a blast. If we come back to salou and more than likely we will we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. We really enjoyed our stay and loved salou.More

Second visit to salou

Love salou. Hotel was clean an tidy . Staff helped when needed. Pool was a pain - people wait for lounges at the crack of dawn so these never any! Food fantastic - even made a birthday cake for my husband at a small charge. I'd go back tomorrow. Local coves are amazing - avoid the big beach if you have kids xMore

Charlotte E,

I'll start with the bad points. Long winded speach at reception before you get your room not needed. Queuing for 10 minutes to get a table only to find there are no cups, glasses and sometimes cutlery available. Queuing for a fried egg, Food quality poor, lamb bone curry a joke. There are no toilets near the pool and they expect you to dry off and use the indoor bar toilet so you can imagine what happens, don't swallow pool water.Should have a separate bar section for the kids as they create queus at the bar.Animation team must have come from Butlins. Professional shows ok. 7euro tourist tax and 20 euro deposit on tv remote.Used travel kettle twice and blew electrics on the third floor, a joke.Only 2 sockets in room.First Choice Rep Chantelle useless when we had our bag stolen in dinning room Loud music played up to midnight, nobody dancing so I cannot understand why!. No entertainment outside Hotel apart from 3 bars. Good points. Staff friendly especially Barman Nelson and sweet Maria who collects the glasses. The Parrot Bar owner Clare, who did more than enough to help us with our problem and became our friend. The generosity of people who offered us money especially Lisa from Manchester. The Hotel Manager who also helped us unlike the Rep. Do yourself a favour, there are better Hotels,If people say this hotel is good then you must have stayed in some right dumps or your from the Hotel itself. donaldoMore
