When you book at an all inclusive hotel you expect decent but not spectacular food. This was not the case here the food was disgusting, It was constantly reheated and served the following day . It made us both ill. The restaurant had no air conditioning and was extremely cramped and not very clean. The rest of the hotel was very dated but OK, although it was locate at the top of a hill which you had to negotiate every time you went to the beach or into Alvor. The real issue here was the food which was the worst we have experieced for over 20 years. We are still not back to being fully well 8 days after returning home.More
We booked this hotel for a week break. It is a little dated, not overly clean and the food wasn't great. There was lots of choice though and the menu changed daily. The all inclusive alcohol choice wasn't great however we would say you get what you pay for! Family friendly hotel with lots going on. It's set in excellent location just 5 minutes walk from the beach, the weather was amazing and Alvor is a beautiful part of the Algarve! Even though the hotel wasn't "amazing" we still had a good time and enjoyed ourselves! More
This is not 4 star.
Lovely location but my god food is terrible if your from uk or ireland we couldnt eat it, wife got sick after first night not sure if it was what she ate which was turkey which I didn't have so i was fine. Hotel is not 4 star 2 star at best. The room they put us in was 1960s style old and dated and tiny so we complained and were moved thw following day which was fine. If your from the continent im sure the food would suit as they seemed to like it. We were all inclusive but we had to eat out which was very disappointing after paying the extra for all inc. i would never go back to this kip again.More

Food was dire could be the cause of our stomach upset
No way does this hotel come close to a 4 star. The food was dire, lack of choice and what was not used was heated up the following day and presented as a different dish. I am not sure it would meet UK health and safety standards. It could have been the cause of our stomach upset and we were not the only guests to suffer this problem. The restaurant itself was too small and there was no air conditioning. The other really negative point was the evening entertainment which was abysmal. The standard could not have been any lower. As the hotel was on a hill it was not simple to walk back from Alvor as it was a steady climb. Taxis were really the only answer which added to the cost of our holiday. We felt we were being forced out in the evenings to eat which was not in our budget when paying for an all inclusive package. It was not all bad we had a nice comfortable room albeit a little dated and a big balcony. No British TV channels on the antiquated television set. The staff we found were good and there was ample seating around the pool. An excellent Wi Fi connection thourout the Hotel. No way would we return here because of the terrible food and dining experience. Alvor itself is great.More
tired hotel not 4 star
This hotel seems to have been overlooked by the Pestana group for updating. It is dated, its as if you have stepped back in time to the 1980's. The food was fine and varied, the bar staff were cheerful.More
