A bumper crop of pools, sports, and entertainment makes the Occidental Lanzarote Mar stand out.
There’s every type of pool going here, including a couple with slides, and a quiet one for adults. The sports line-up is just as impressive, with a rock climbing wall and archery among the options.
Kids are well looked after, with clubs and playgrounds. As for location, it’s a five-minute ride on the free shuttle bus to central Costa Teguise, and a five-minute walk to Playa del Ancla – a sheltered, sandy bay.

Not the best
Staff were friendly, hotel itself was clean and well kept. All inclusive drinks bar was brill to help urself. Only bugs where, even if u had a ‘do not disturb’ sign on door the maids still let themselves in which woke me up when i was unwell. The restaurant was a big disappointment, food was nothing special and I was served raw chicken TWICE in 4 days of staying there. 1st time i was unwell all next day, and 2nd time luckily i checked before touching- after that we ordered food elsewhere. Complained both times and never heard anything else Would also recommend people ask to not have a ground floor apartment as our only ‘view’ was just a massive bush that was too tall to see over, covering any sun from reaching us. Excellent food, very spacious suites
This hotel is perfect for a short break as well as for a long vacation, especially if you have kids. I very much enjoyed it's peaceful location, far from the heart of Costa Teguise (if you don't have a car there's a very convenient shuttle service). They serve great food and the suites are very spacious. More

Great hotel (cold pools)
I will sum up our family break with the pros and cons below: PROS 1. Good food selection on all inclusive (but no section for children) 2. Good large clean rooms 3. Cot and changing mat provided 4. All inclusive included branded soft drinks and good options for alcohol 5. Friendly staff CONS 1. The pools are a problem. Far too cold for children. A really shame as the pool is always the highlight of a holiday. We were told that the large pool was heated by solar panel but I noted no difference. To put the temperature into context the children's pool was 23 degrees. 2. No food section for children 3. The children's entertainment starts too late 4. You can't get hot drinks in the entertainment hall 5. The only AI hotel I have been too, where they chop off your band at the time you check out. So if your flight is not until the evening you must find food and drink. NEUTRAL POINTS 1. We had 3 bookings, all linked, but on arrival hotel told us only 2 linked and this was holiday operator fault. So one party was not with the other 2. 2. Wifi is intermittent depending on your room 3. Gym is great, but when you want to use, early morning, evening and lunch - it is shut. 4. It is a 30 minute walk to a suitable beachMore
Apart from a very poor balcony with no sun overlooking side room the stay was very good, would come again but insist on better balcony view, location was good for us, enjoyed walking. Used curtesy bus to te town and enjoyed walking back to the hotel.food good, service great, staff friendly. Shame no coffee or tea making facilities as shown on website for superior rooms , but overall good valueMore
An enjoyable stay
This was a real enjoyable stay, the rooms were big ,we requested ground floor by a late request ,but it was met.this hotel is realy clean, never saw an insect at all ,was a bit conserved by reviews that were not very nice.there were steps everywhere but there were lifts and ramps to overcome the stairs.people were in wheelchairs and a mobility scooter and managed independently. The shows where not the best, but entertaining and funny in places.there was plenty going on during the day if you liked to join in,we didn't but watched as there was a good following of people that did.the staff were helpful efficient and answered and query we had.they were not over friendly but just got on with there job in a professional manner.the food was plentiful ,a good choice but some how it was cold most of the time.I can only think it was because of the air conditioning blowing cold.the dinning staff worked hard ,they looked nice, the uniforms were spotless as was the counters. The tables were cleared speedy ,this was a very please t stay.would I go again, yes.there were a few things ,like the paint was coming off the bottom of the pool a bit, which spoilt the look ,but it was fine to swim in.for what we paid we felt we had good value .cleanI Ness was outstanding, service was realy good.thank youMore
