    This place is just a minute’s walk from the lido – one of the liveliest spots in Funchal. And when you want to explore the terracotta-capped city centre, a five minute cab ride does the trick.

    Widescreen views are a given back at the hotel. One of the best places to enjoy them is out on the sun terrace, which comes with a pool and an al fresco eatery.

    Our room was located in the top floor and it has nice view to the pool area. The room was clean and has enought space. Overall look of the room was a bit worn out. We didn't feel as a welcome in this place. All staff kindness or hospitality was totally zero. Lot of things what has promiced in the room rate was not included like slippers and bathropes. It was also very difficult to get the key for the safety box. We tried to ignore every bad points and enjoy our holiday in Madeira. Luckily the weather was good and pool was fine. Also it was easy to take a walk to the public beach to have sun and swim.

    Having read some recent reviews I agree with most of them. We had a studio with fantastic balcony with sun loungers table a chairs which was indeed a bonus and gave a lot of privacy. Kitchen facilities are adequate but location of power points in that area needs looking at as had to boil kettle in cupboard as no power points in kitchen area whatsoever. Cannot complain whatsoever about cleanliness and maid service - quick and unobtrusive. I do however have to agree with another reviewer’s comments about it feeling more like a conference or service hotel - definitely lacked any ambience in the evenings. I also have to agree unfortunately about the reaction of the reception staff when the fire alarm went off and we dutifully followed fire evacuation procedures as it stopped and started several times. Our concern seemed a bit inconsequential to them and they dismissed it as ‘oh the maid pressed the wrong button’ . We didn’t see any other member of staff between us leaving our room and eventually getting to reception even though we told the we saw atowel had been placed at one of the fire doors. On arrival and departure staff were very friendly however. Good central location nevertheless.

    Our studio room was very comfortable and included a mini kitchen + table for snacks that was extremely handy. Although the room had been described as having a side sea view, it turned out that there was a full sea view and a large balcony that accommodated 2 loungers and table + 2 chairs. The flexible cleaning arrangements were also helpful. Facilities were excellent and the hotel is located close to the promenade and within walking distance of lots of good restaurants. The bud stop is close-by with regular bus to and from the city centre.

    Feels like a conference business hotel. Dull bar like a funeral parlour. Food cold and bland. Don't recommend. look at the Porto mare opposite for a bit of luxury which this hotel does not have. Walked into Funchal but bit too far both ways. Hope on bus is opposite which is handy. Stayed here with jet 2 but disappointed compared to other hotels we have visited. Great if you are attending a conference meeting.but not really a holiday feel.

    Arrived earlier than check in but was so pleased my room was available. Fast check in, straight to my room - what a beautiful, clean room with the most amazing sea view! After leaving a cold dark Manchester this is HEAVEN! This trip I was a solo traveller and couldn't have felt more included - certainly not singled out. On the first evening the head waiter was so friendly and welcoming, and thoughtfully he sat me next to a really lovely English couple who couldn't have been nicer. We became friends and we looked out for each other at meal times, this really made my holiday. The food was buffet style so lots of choice, all very good. Im a vegetarian, there was plenty of choice for me. The location of the hotel is brilliant and I walked into Funchal most days. On return to the hotel, I thoroughly enjoyed sunbathing by the pool (which I must say was very very cold!) with a lovely beer from the fabulous bar area. Everyone was friendly, the hotel was clean - overall a fantastic holiday. Just wish I was there now!!!!
