La Signora Hotel

Such a great little hotel. Staff are all so friendly and the place is so clean which is great. Breakfast is good and we had lunch as well which was really good. Greek dancing night was a lot of fun with everyone joining in. Changes planned for next year I just hope they don’t ruin the quaintness of this hotel.

My stay at Lara Hotel happened through divine intervention; I was rescued from a horrific Airbnb scenario (unlivable conditions) by a local, who then arranged for me to stay at the Lara Hotel. This hotel and its unforgettable staff members will always have a special place in my heart; their hospitality is incomparable. Although the hotel was fully booked, a makeshift room was made up for me in the servants quarters. As soon as I opened the door, the scent of cleanliness calmed me. The room was immaculate and spacious. Compared to my earlier experience during the day, this felt like a palace. The room had a television, clean bathroom and toilet, shampoo , soaps, and bodywash, as well as extra towels. The grounds are perfectly manicured, and the swimming pool, as the Greeks say, was "pentakathara" (exceptionally clean). The hotel is situated relatively close to the beach and the views from any angle are beautiful. My late arrival meant that I was not able to eat dinner there, but I managed to get something to eat at the taverna across the road. I spent some time at the outdoor bar talking with the staff, who were genuinely friendly. That night I slept in a bed was so comfortable, that I woke up thinking I was home. A large spread was served at breakfast, which I was able to eat (Gluten Free foods were available). Given my disastrous Airbnb experience, hotel owner, Venetia arranged for her security guard Spyro to take me to my next stop to ensure my safety on the island. This was not required, but something for which I will be forever grateful. Venetia is an angel in human form and takes pride in her hotel; if you are fussy about cleanliness, or simply want to stay in a place where you are treated well, then this place is a must. This was not an ordinary travel experience, but the way in which Venetia and her staff went out of their way to accommodate me is the very definition of the Greek word, "filoxenia" (hospitality).

First holiday to the Greek Island of Kefalonia. My wife and I have nothing but praise for this hotel. Staff were amazingly friendly. Rooms were very comfortable. Good continental breakfast, outdoor pool was very clean and monitored everyday by one of the staff. Room was cleaned daily with fresh towels. Good views of the sea from our balcony. 3 euros for the air conditioning each day with was well worth it and we were informed that this summer was extremely hot even for the Greeks. To sum up we would definitely come back to Kefalonia and our choice of hotel would be the Lara.
