Super Location and Outstanding Staff
01 Dec , 2019 Douglas G
This was our first stay at this property. A must comment is the staff – from the front desk, to the valet, every person we encountered was not only friendly and helpful, but they were totally focused on doing their job. There was no waiting while a cell call was finished, nothing non-work going on, we were the most important part of their day and that was most appreciated. What is most important to us, and this hotel fulfilled, is location, location, location. We enter NYC through the Lincoln Tunnel, and this hotel is only a loop around one-way streets to get to the front valet parking. Exiting, it’s only a left turn, then right into the tunnel. It is easy two avenue walking distance to Times Square, and all of the mid-town attractions. Most pleasant location surprise was the nearby Irish restaurant, Tír na Nóg, just doors away – as authentic as you can get, reasonable prices, and probably the best fish and chips we’ve had outside of Ireland (or even including Ireland). There were numerous other low cost dining options in this neighborhood. Finally, the Candlewood pantry was a pleasant surprise – free coffee throughout the day, as well as all kinds of conveniences that you can borrow (games, books, appliances, etc.). We will be sure to return!
Comfortable and functional

We stayed 8 nights - note room is cleaned only after the 7th night, but change of towels optional, additional amenities etc. The kitchen enables basic cooking and we used it often for oatmeal, pasta and toast. The location is convenient, near Port Authority and Times Square, and many other hotels nearby. Breakfast if included is by Butler, an outsourced service, offering breakfast including a drink (we always took OJ) and either a sandwich with an omelet or pancakes. After 5 days we kind of got tired of this menu....
OK Digs Near Time Square and Theaters

We arrived around 3:00. Got checked in efficiently. Paid for valet parking. $65 + tax daily (tax = 11.94 - found out when leaving). Why don't they just say $77? All the staff were nice but indifferent. Room 1604. No surprise - the room was pretty standard - queen bed, chair to sit in, TV, dresser. View of the street below. The kitchenette was good to have. We used the fridge and microwave - both were fine. There was no bed spread, just a decorative bed throw, and none in the closet either. The shower rod was not secured to the wall properly and so the curtain would sag into the middle of the rod. Bathroom was more cramped than usual US-style property. Definitely 1 person at a time. The AC was a bit noisy. Good value? Not in my opinion. $578 for Friday and Saturday night booked 5 weeks in advance. Probably needed to book earlier. Oh well.
Great 3 day stay; Great location, great staff and comfortable room.

They had a very friendly and helpful staff from the front desk to the maintenance crew. We stayed for three nights and I am not shy about making requests. They were great at all times. Some of the critisism's I see must be of the night front desk gentleman: He mumbles and is heavly accented. The rooms are clean, quiet and cozy. This is New York, so even high up with thick glass the city noise can keep you up at night. We found that running the fan all night negated most of the sirens, trucks and occasional drunk tourist. It is nice that you can crack the window so you can get a feel of the weather outside your box. Our room was exactly as pictured: Small table, dresser, safe in the closet and a recliner which was appreciated after a long day of tramping through central park. The equipment is showing some wear, as the bathroom light was temperamental even after the staff quickly replaced all the bulbs and the A/C unit stopped working for a while late at night. It was fine the next morning. No biggie as the weather was mild. There is a free (yes, FREE) laundry with several units, and unlike most other places, all but one unit were working, so there was no problem getting some quick cleaning done. Your nicely located 2 blocks from a subway station and walking distance to several Broadway theaters. Plenty of foot traffic so we did not feel unsafe walking at night from the major streets. There is a nice grocery store, Brooklyn Fare, four blocks away. We loved their fresh soup and deli counter for easy meals. A 7 eleven is around the corner, so you can save money if you don’t want to try the billions of little restaurant’s in the area. If you are health conscious like us, they supply plastic cooking utensils and Teflon pans which are not good for your health. Nothing you can do there. There are the bare minimum of utensils and pans supplied, so no piling the sink with dishes. The good news is the dishwasher worked great so you just run that every day. The front desk has may extra items you might want for free like blenders, toasters, etc. All in all a great stay and I will return on future trips.
Perfectly acceptable mid range hotel

We stayed for 2 nights this week. The hotel is a bit off the main drag and the street outside has a few unsavoury characters hanging around. None the less a very short walk to Broadway and Subway station. The check in staff are very helpful and friendly. The room was quite big with a useful kitchenette, however it also smelt of cigarettes, as stated on previous reviews, and not the tobacco kind! They really should install smoke detectors in the rooms as this would appear to be a common issue. Overall an acceptable option in a reasonable location.
