    The family-run hotel in, only a 500m uphill walk to the village centre and to the Markbachjoch gondola, is highly praised by its customers, with many returning year after year. As you approach the building you’ll notice a quirky and artistic façade incorporated into the traditional Austrian exterior.

    If we could go next year (which I doubt) given the current situation) this would have been the 10 year. In all those years we have never had a bad experience. Rooms with balcony are absolutely fine given the beds are traditional Austrian, food is hearty and plentiful and they do Beg and kids meals. Herbert and sister Magritte run their hotel and I do mean run, he’s on the go from before breakfast to last thing at night. They are great patrons making sure we the guests are seriously well taken care of. Warm, comfy, clean, the staff are brilliant, no complaints we have enjoyed every stay. We are pleased to call Herbert and family friends. Alas now we’ll into our 70’s this would have been our 46 th year of skiing. Thanks Herb, all being well we shall most definitely be back.

    It's a great hotel and the staff are lovely, always happy to help. Only critisism would be veggie meals, I know there aren't many vegetarians in Austria but could have been more imaginative with the menu though few nights did enjoy the vegetarian meals. Was glad to see vegan spread for breakfast for my rolls and soya milk for my cerial! If I am in Niederau again I would definetely stay again.

    My daughter and I spent a week in Niederau. We had a great time, the hotel was very nice, clean and the staff was extremely friendly. I would like to thank the staff and the chef for cooking a really tasty noodle soup for my daughter for dinner. We used the pool which was clean and warm. We left our skis in the hiring centre overnight and loved walking back to the hotel through the snow. There is a close ski lift from where it is possible to go on skis close to the hotel. Thank you for looking after us!

    We stayed here as a family of eight ..two grandchildren , six adults one of whom was a sensitive coeliac. The staff are lovely and helpful and our coeliac was very well looked after at meals. Rooms were good and clean and comfortable and the entire hotel was welcoming . It was about a ten minute walk away from the lift , probably quicker if you are younger . The slight incline to the hotel could be a bit slippy and icy but we coped very well ( even in our 80s,):but we did use ski poles . Every encounter with the staff was friendly , especially Emily If you are hiring skis I would get them from nearer the lift otherwise it’s a bit of a trek to the ski hire shop recommended by Crystal and the hotel. Especially if you have small children. But a brilliant week and the hotel is much recommended

    I know I've reviewed the Sonnschein before but after my 11th visit here I just have to comment once again. We brought a group of adaptive skiers plus helpers, instructors, nurese etc here, as we do every year, and this hotel is so good for us, very accessible, spacious rooms and bathrooms, and the attitude from the staff, from the owner right down, is superb - as we can be demanding customers. our trip was featured on Ski Sunday 9th Feb 2020 - check it out on BBC iPlayer if you are in the UK, including the hotel a little.
