Much more than I expected!

We spent a total of 3 nights here - one on arrival in Reykjavik and two before departure). We were doing an 8 night tour with Nordic Visitor (see my other review) and this was a great launching pad for a fantastic time in beautiful Iceland! From the moment we arrived to check in the staff (reception and bar) were nothing short of amazing! Always with a big smile and very friendly and professional. Our first room was rather compact with a view of the road, but the beds/pillows were super comfy and the room (as was the whole hotel) extremely clean. There was a coffee machine in the room which was much appreciated. Our second room had a similar view however it was a "wheel chair" accessible room which meant it was much bigger which was great! The breakfast was included and was quite good but the standout food for me was the bakery as you enter the hotel! THE BEST BAGELS EVER!!! The location of the hotel was great and was within walking distance of many cafes and restaurants. We very much hope to return to Iceland in the summer and would definitely stay at the Exeter again!

We booked at the Exeter hotel through Booking.com to visit Iceland between the 28.03.20 - 01.04.20 to celebrate my 55th birthday. Unfortunately due to the spread of the infection of the Corona Virus (Covid-19) and the travel restriction advised by our UK government, and rightly so, adding to the fact that the airline canceling all none essential flights. We asked both the Exeter Hotel and Booking.com to refund our booking fee which we have paid in full in January this year. Neither the Exeter hotel or Booking.com were prepared to refund our money. It is very disappointing in such an unfortunate world global pandemic, as already declared by the World Health Organisation neither the Exeter Hotel nor Booking.com appreciate the unprecedented and the seriousness of the situation. We even contacted the hotel staff and Booking.com by phone they were not interested in our plea to refund our money and did not even take into consideration that both airlines going to and from Iceland were canceled. They seem to ignore the World Health Organisation whom we should be listening to their advice to increase isolation and reduce none essential travel. We are more disappointed with Booking.com for taking such a stance for such an established worldwide company. Both my partner and I are self-employed so this further adds to the stress of this situation. After this ordeal is over, it is highly unlikely that we will use Booking.com again. We trusted this organization but their values and beliefs are not aligned with ours or the rest of the world!

It was our first time in Iceland and this hotel was a prime location! Opposite the hotel is a bus stop where excursions pick up and drop off too which was perfect! The reception staff were very helpful and friendly, they booked a couple of excursions and hotel transfers for us too. The rooms aren't huge, but they're modern and clean with a speaker and great toiletries included. The shower is great with underfloor heating in the bathroom. Would highly recommend this hotel
Great central hotel!

This hotel is lovely and modern. The staff are friendly and luggage storage is really easy and has seperate lockers which gives extra peace of mind. It’s only a couple of minutes for the main stretch of Reykjavik and is close to lots of great bars. It is also literally 100 yards from a bus stop which is ideal for trips and has a good free breakfast.
Super funky and youthful!!

I stayed at Exeter for 2 nights at the beginning of March 2020. From the moment I walked in to check in I got a friendly, youthful, funky vibe. There is nice music at the lobby and a lovely seating area. If I stayed there for longer I would happily spend some time in the lobby doing some work, or having a coffee with my friends, which something unusual while you are on a trip. In the entrance of the hotel, a nice bar is located which got very busy at night with young crowds which was convenient if you want to have a sip before you hit the bed. Furthermore, an amazing bakery with delicious products is also located in the entrance, for everyone who wants to take a freshly baked bagel for the road. Don’t get me wrong, the breakfast of the hotel was something that you don’t want to miss as well!! All in all, it was a perfect stay.
