Just Landed – March’s new arrivals

Nothing tastes sweeter than booking a holiday, so skip the chocolate eggs and treat yourself to one of March’s fresh finds that have landed just in time for Easter. We’ve got a hot list of the best brand-new destinations and hotels for you to pick from, whether you’re looking for easy on the wallet or easy on the eye.

Meet the top picks from March’s new arrivals…

Basel, Switzerland

A warm willkommen to our new Swiss pick, Basel. It’s a big name in the gallery scene, and is home to a contemporary art festival each year. If history’s more your thing, it also has 40 museums (challenge accepted). This pretty city’s split in half by the River Rhine, which is so clean you might spot a few locals jumping in the water. It’s actually one of the best ways to do some sightseeing if you’re feeling brave – go for a dip near Museum Tinguely, and you can float for three kilometres through the centre.

Beach ready

Try and get closer to the sand – we’ll wait. Dom Jose Beach Hotel‘s right on the palm-lined promenade that runs along Quarteira, so you can squeeze in as much precious beach time as possible. Not a fan of sea swims? No problem. This pick’s got a freshwater pool that overlooks the ocean, so you can soak up the views minus the salt. There’s also a restaurant and a bar here, and you can easily get out and about to explore the resort’s centre, too.

Rooftop pool? Tick.

You already know how good this one’s going to look on the ‘gram. In a prime spot above Sagres’ pretty bay in the Algarve, Memmo Baleeira Hotel has some serious scenery going on. We’re talking sea views, little boats bobbing about near the port, and rugged rocks that perfectly frame the sunsets. And there’s no better way to take it all in than from a super sleek rooftop pool. If you can drag yourself away, you can see it all from a different angle down on the beach.

City stays in Switzerland

They weren’t lying when they named this one, because its style game is STRONG. Ibis Styles Basel City may be a wallet-friendly pick, but they certainly didn’t cut corners with the design. Things are modern and bright inside, and the bold and colourful bar’s a cool place to round off a day of exploring. And with the bus, metro and train stations all nearby, this hotel’s a solid base for seeing what Basel’s got to offer without staying right in the middle of the action.

Family-friendly finds

No one said family holidays can’t be boujie, too. Tivoli Marina Vilamoura Algarve Resort has earned every single one of its five stars. The whole place has got that beach-boho-chic vibe, but it hits that sweet spot between luxury looks and family-friendly facilities. You’ve got three freshwater pools to pick from – one with an area just for the kids. There’s also an outdoor play area, and you’re right on the beach. Between the activities, spa, evening entertainment, kids’ club and six restaurants, this stay literally has something for the whole family.

Extra space, please.

If you really like to make yourself at home, this one’s for you. The apartments at Montegordo Hotel Apartamentos & Spa give you the best of both worlds – you’ll have loads of extra room to chill out in and chef up your own meals, but you’ve still got all fancy facilities to use like the spa, pool and restaurants. Things are pretty peaceful in the Algarve’s Monte Gordo itself, so prepare to move at a slower pace with days out on the beach and trips to the wildlife reserve nearby.
