well here i am again ,i have just got back from coco royal,my third time this year and i am going back end of January,i still say it is good value for money,it is only a 3 and half star if you want 5star then there are plenty of other hotels,i find the food good with some thing for one and all,the staff are so nice and always make you feel very welcome, the rooms are fine not five star ,but i am not there for the room,i can only say the way it is ,enjoy its a great island.
    needs a little more work

this hotel is a lovely hotel but just a little more attention by the staff on the smaller details would rearly help, cleaning tables in the reception area and windows to bar and restaraunt and cleaning the toilets in that area would make a vast difference. our bedrooms where immaculate spacious and tidy, going to the offer of food there is a vast choice to choose from, but even the stews were hot and spicy can I suggest putting on some plain food i.e chicken or beef with out the hot spices or sauces, also i would suggest putting a couple of microwaves into restaurant as the food is never very warm, and had to ask for them to heat it up every day, the breakfasts where great and the set lunch menu was great but the evening buffet needs looking at could you at least put on a bowl of chips as 4 choices of rice every day gets a bit repetitive, all the staff and management are great if you ask which you must as things will be done straight away and sorted so if your tv dosnt work or the telephone is not working they will repair it, the pool boys are great and enjoy there job, at the back by the beach there is a guy called sukka, man with pony tail who does tours and day trips and he is a quarter of the price of the tour operators say hi from Paul if you book with him. so as you can see there are a lot of ups and downs of this hotel but you must remember to make the most of this place and you will love the people and the area.
    NOT THE BEST

We have stayed at this hotel for the last 2 weeks. There are positives to the hotel, but unfortunately these are outweighed by the negatives The cleanliness here is not very good at all. We had to ask for our rooms to be mopped The linen and towels have seen better days. They were old and grey and thread bare. The windows everywhere are very dirty and there was obviously no cleaning schedule in place The pool bar, spa, shop and gym were not open at all. We asked why this was and for one hour the pool bar opened Ordering a snack at lunchtime is a farce... I watched my husband walk to the pool guys who sent him to the lobby, they sent him back to the pool and they sent him back to the lobby. It’s a good job he is a patient man The food in the buffet restaurant is COLD. We had to complain about this and it did get better for a while, but soon reverted back to cold again. There are flies all over the food, so your oral safety is not guaranteed. We were lucky, we were never ill, but we did hear about other people having D&V This hotel is like a Travelodge. There are people coming and going at all times of the day. We were woken on many mornings to shouting. When my husband got up to investigate it was the Indians chatting to themselves!!!! Baring in mind this could be 6 am, we were not too happy, but these people were on tours and moving in to their next hotel so they didn’t seem to care The beach outside the hotel is dirty. There is litter and plastic all over, also there is a layer of diesel on the sand too Fresh sunbed towels are available all day everyday and the pool guys would prepare your bed in advance for you Most of the staff in the hotel were pleasant and tried their very best to accommodate you Would I recommend this hotel? NO Would I return again? NO Would I go back to Sri Lanka? Possibly, it’s a beautiful island steeped in history, so lots of things to go out and explore. Go on a train journey ..... that was an experience in itself.
    Expectation not meeting reality

A 3 Star and nothing more, very friendly staff but unfortunately expectation does not meet reality when you stay a Coco Royal. There’s plenty of staff on hand but a lot of them are hanging around doing nothing when tables need clearing & cleaned. The All inclusive package is poor & very limited, especially the bar. The hotel advertises for main meals that you can choose from the buffet restaurant or the a la carte eatery, what it doesn’t tell you is that you have to pay extra for a la carte if your all inclusive. The food was very much repetitive, either over spiced or too salty and constantly cold, flys occupied the salads and fresh bread. Room service was daily but lacked in attention to detail, very often items wouldn’t be replaced and the floors weren’t mopped & cleaned in the 2 weeks we were there. Any used crockery left outside of the room would sit there for days. Another false advertisement is the pool side bar (cafe plage) & Spa. Neither were open throughout our duration. Free wi-fi zones, ‘that’s the lobby only’ but be advertised if it’s busy you won’t be able to log on. Not once did we see badminton or volleyball or any organised sport, oh we did, the pool boys were playing ping pong and apparently there was a gym, but never shown where it was. You can expect themed nights and performances from live bands apparently. The bands must have been away on holiday during our vacation, however quite often we were treat to a monotone keyboard player who’s choice of songs leave a lot to be desired. If you don’t want to sit in the lobby and listen to the entertainment you can always retire to your room, as the volume is exceptionally loud, several times we had to ring reception asking to turn it down. As much as we enjoyed our holiday chillaxing, it was a very expensive holidays day with little to offer and probably the only time we have returned home having lost weight and longing for a decent alcoholic drink.

It's a office trip with my family. All reservation s done before coming by organizing committee. On the way we went to turtle conservation project at kosgoda as well. It's on the by lane with Galle road facing beach side. But if you coming on Google maps your vehicle have to jump over the railway if you choose neegrodarama road. It's a 3 star hotel. We had buffet meals. Had some welcome drink. Then straight away to the launch. Then got rooms. Spacious rooms even in basic category. Bathrooms are clean but not having hand shower so make a problem when washing the child. Having hot water. Dinner also buffet. Had some BBQ stations. Meals are good. Variety is bit less but dinner has some Sri Lankan, Indian, and Thai foods. The deserts are monotonous to me on each meal. Having pool. And beach access as well. Our room has a TV and water kettle issue. Just after informing them they visited within 5 min. And it's really appreciated. The GM again asked about it from me. Allover, nice hotel. Good service. Friendly staff. Value for money. Keep it up..
