Brela holidays land you in a sleepy postcode on the Dalmatian Coast, where it's all about as energetic as a sunbathing session followed by a swanky seafood dinner.

A Dalmatian gem

Zoom west out of Split and wriggle your way along the coast for an hour, and you’ll land in the sleepy seaside town of Brela. Here, citrus-coloured houses stack their way up a pine-clad hillside. And it all looks out over a yacht-studded bay, complete with six kilometres of ready-to-sunbathe-on sand.

Downtime and dinnertime

Punta Rata’s the beach that everyone wants to be seen with. It’s a sand-and-pebble combination, and the water’s as clear as a freshly washed window. The marina’s a bit of a tourist magnet, too, thanks to a crew of ritzy seafood restaurants that serve dishes like squid-ink risotto.

Jaunts to Split, Hvar and Brac

Brela’s location means adventures are aplenty if you’re a keen explorer. You can zip over to Split in an hour – it’s Croatia’s second-largest city, where fine dining and retail therapy come hand-in-hand. Alternatively, hop on a boat from Brela harbour and daytrip it over to the Insta-ready Croatian islands of Hvar and Brac.
