Lazy beach days, secluded Caribbean living and capital daytrips are what Lance aux Epines holidays do best.

Cottages and villas

Lance aux Epines is plotted on the southwest of Grenada, a 20-minute drive from the island’s capital of Saint George’s. It’s a beach area with a secluded sandy bay, surrounded by villas and cottages with their own pools and sea views. It’s a world away from the big hotel resorts, instead offering you a taste of local life in a residential area. Bars and restaurants are a short walk away for mealtimes and the world-renowned, Grand Anse Beach is only a 10-minute drive away.

Swimming and snorkelling

You’re sorted when it comes to sand and sea. Lance aux Epines Beach is the ideal spot for swimming and snorkelling. The seabed is a mixture of seagrass and mini coral reefs with four-eye butterflyfish, blue-striped grunt and colourful beaugregory swimming around. Drive 10 minutes down the road and you’ll reach what’s considered to be the most Instagrammable beach in the world. Grand Anse Beach is a two-mile sandy stretch with the warm Caribbean Sea calmly lapping at the shore. Hotels, beach bars and watersport shacks line the beach. If you’re looking for the quieter option of the two, then Lance aux Epines is definitely your best bet.

Close to the capital

You’re only a 20-minute drive from Grenada’s capital, Saint George’s. On Saturdays, the market square comes alive with brightly coloured umbrellas shading fresh produce and homegrown spices. Around this you’ll see rainbow-splashed buildings peppered between stone churches and colonial landmarks. Head to the waterfront and walk along the carenage – AKA the promenade – to see cruise boats pulling into the harbour and glam yachts in the marina.
